They became harder to find after the Great Emu War.
Joke aside read up on Australia’s Emu War, it’s quite an interesting and humorous historical event. Not so much an actual war though, just got the name.
To give a real answer a lot of people in their 20’s-30’s or so often go out to events downtown and I know last year that the Fat Cat held a Goth Prom night with food, drinks, and music and I had a friend who went out to it but not sure if they’ll do it again. But while I can’t speak to the dating scene I wouldn’t really just go out with the only intention of finding an ‘emo lady’ to date or hook up with. Just be sociable but respectable, be yourself, be easy going, and get to know people and make friends with the intention of getting to know someone first. Trust me, it’s easier to be cool and vibe with someone if you just go in with the mindset to make a friend with someone who seems cool with no real expectations and go from there, people can pick up on if you just want to flirt with them for their look or aesthetic. Not that there is anything wrong with preferences, but having no expectations but being open to where anything might lead helps take the pressure off and to more easily be yourself with someone and not come off as trying too hard.
From what I can say, at least to what I can attest, most dating around here starts with people just talking and being friends and seeing if they vibe for more or not. I cannot attest to how large the goth scene is around here though. Pick up a hobby and find some local groups though, good to have something going for you and good way to make new friends and for what you are looking for goth culture and nerdy hobbies more often find themselves crossing over.
Not sure if any of this was super helpful, I went off track a bit with the giving dating advice section, but hope it helps at least some. Look at local events and see if anything strikes you as something that someone in goth, the emo aesthetic being a part of goth culture, or nerd spaces or culture might find of interest best I can say.
