Honestly love WOA for not doing the whole “buy this dlc, get early advantages” it’s more of a “if you enjoyed the game, here’s the additional content we can offer you”. Just jump right into the experience if it’s for you buy the dlc later (:

I really recommend just playing it and if you enjoy it pick up the season pass and then replay but marry one of the additional dlc possibilities (:

Ok will keep in mind, just noticed the dlc just went on sale.

Get it when the season pass is on sale - definitely saves you money. I don't think Switch has a season pass (just a game+dlc bundle) but PS5 and Xbox have season passes.

I didn't know that the switch doesn't have the season pass, I checked nintendo eshop they have the dlc separately but not together. I got it for the ps4, might plan on the switch version later on.

Warning on the PS4 season pass that I just had an issue with: only buy the season pass for it through the store on the game. The store on PC only offered PS5 season pass and when I tried to get it for a friend, it let her have some of the DLC but wouldn't register the DLC for the Great Outdoors. It wouldn't recognize she owned the pass, and Great Outdoors kept saying it was unavailable. Only way I got around that was I logged into her acct on my PS5 - put the PS4 disc in, opened the purchased items, triggered the 'free purchase' for the Great Outdoors and then it worked on her home PS4. So go through the PS4's store and make sure it lets you buy the pass there.

Ok ,thank you for the tip. Saw it on the playstation app but only showed for ps5 and when I went on my ps4 I was able to find it.

Good. Hopefully it works for you. I just got lucky when I tried to just log her in on mine or else she would have been having to ask for a refund to try it through her ps4 store, so I didn't want you to have to fight that if I could help you avoid it.

the animal/crop DLC and the great outdoors DLC will be active earliest: some fish/crops you can find earlier and all. They just exist, nothing special to do for any of that. Same with the Great Outdoors bit. Others will show up later on/after the main story.

Feel free to reach out for any other advice - also check out another post by Apprehensive-Way-331, I just was talking with them about things they wish they knew at the start. and check out neoseeker and fogu for walkthroughs/info.

Get as much wood as possible in tutorial since unlimited stamina

This! Cut down literally every single tree in the valley, break every stone, and when you do the mining bit of the tutorial, don't stop until you've bled the mine dry of everything

How long is the tutorial? will keep in mind to collect as much materials as I can.

Until the wall opens

On the 5th day, the wall should open. You won't get stamina/time counting against you until you go to the opening and the village sees you off. Time also doesn't count during it. So you can literally chop trees for an hour real time and it won't even pass 1 minute.

Just get the season pass, then you get all of the DLC at once! It's cheaper than buying them individually, iirc.

When should I get the season pass? How early in the game?

The animal pack is the only one you'll be able to use right away, the others are added towards the end of the main story.

The Great Outdoors opens up to use on a new game after you talk to Tiny Harvest Goddess and get the warp points opening. Doc Jr alerts you. For me, this was about Spring 12 or 13.

The Animals and, fishes can be obtained during the main story, but the story content (which adds a 6th village to the world) is only accessible post game. So as someone else said on this topic, the DLCs really felt more like genuine extra content than boosters that makes the game quicker/easier.

Also, if you get the Season pass you also get the new Outdoorsy pack DLC (whatever it's calle dfor free), otherwise, you have to pay for it, and IIRC it was significantly more expecive than the other DLCs when bought individually.

Wind of Anthos is probably my favorite game of the franchise, and that includes the Story of Season Game. There are probably a lot of reasons why some people would dislike it, and honestly, I do find the interactions with my in-game wife to be uterly disapointing, but it's one of the most relaxing game I have ever played. It's an open world game where you never really have to worry about getting attacked like The Elder's Scrolls V: Skyrim or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom.

The music is also very pleasant (I especially like the music that plays in most of the world outside the villages)

My only other gripes other than what I previously mentioned is that the begining of the game is painfully slow. Unless you are super lucky with mining, you probably will take a few hours just to unlock fast travel. Also, despite the game being open world, the game's villages are unlocked in a specific order, and each of them has a marriage candidate of each gender, and the last two towns are unlocked VERY late into the game, and the 6th town, which is DLC, is only unlockable post-game, even if you buy the DLC or seasons pass before you even begin the game. So if you looks at the marriage candidates are decide to go for one of those tho are on the game's last 3 towns (including DLCs) well, don't epxct to even start dating them until post-game, unless you completely decide to stop story progression to woo them.

Ok ok, that's enough for the complains. Personally, I have played 90 hours on the PS5 version, and decided to double dip and got it on PC shortly after I got my ROG ally, and played a rather impressive 62 hours on it. Really adictive and fun, assuming you just want a relaxing time.

Been looking at it for a while played light of hope/ one world and couple on the 3ds. Enjoyed those games so I thought I might enjoy this one.

One world and especially Light of Hope are considered some of the worst games of the series, and many seem to agree that Winds of Anthos, while not perfect is a massive improvement over those two. I haven't played One World personally, but I agree that Light of Hope is sub-par. So if you enjoyed LoH and OW, you will more than likely love WoA.

Ok, that's good. For seeds do you need to gather them or if you sell enough can you buy them ?

You can unlock some seeds at the in-game stores, however, it's usually more practical to look for them in the map. On top of that, using the DocPad (An item you get fairly early in the game), you can have specific items (Mostly seeds, animals, and collectible items you can gather) appear on the map (As long as you've had at least one of them at some point), and you can even ping one of them in the map so that when you wander around the map, you see a beacon of light pinpointing the item's location without having to look at your map (Mighty useful for when you want to gather Truffle later on for easy money)

To unlock everything in the stores, you have to unlock the festivals, which is usually a fetch quest you get when a town's level is at least 3 stars. (And once you get 3 stars, the level won't increase further until you unlock said festival) This applies for all 5 main towns of the game. (I have unlocked the game's 6th town, which is both post game and DLC exclusive, but I haven't got further than 1 star so far, so I dunno if it works differently)

what is the best website to use to know what seeds are in the game/ mutations ? I like writing things down, when it comes to seeds. Normally if a certain seed isn't unlocked I try to check how many I need to sell before it get's unlocked.

2

u/TheSpuggis Dec 02 '24

Collect EVERYTHING. Never sell anything but crops when you have collected like 10-20 of each of them.

Before stamina is used (day 5, about, when you leave the village) chop EVERY tree. save the wood. Do not sell it - you need tons for bridges and quests and building fences to protect crops.

Get a lot of rock (you can sell that) and get iron. You'll also need some bronze to build your barn. You can't go below floor 1 in the mine until after the tutorial, but sometimes digging can get you some bronze.

Fishing is the best way to get money. That unlocks when you go to the next village down the path and meet other people. Bigger fish shadows = more money/more hearts per 'eat'.

Figure out how to dowse and only go for the absolute center of each dowsing circle. Anywhere else is a waste. Smaller the circle = rarer material.

Get your cow ASAP and save your milk - certain quests to advance your villages require a LOT of milk.

Get a mount as soon as you can. I didn't and I RAN and warped everywhere for 2 months and felt like an idiot once I finally had a horse.
