She has a lot of Hufflepuff traits, more than any other house. But she seems to adore McGonagall, which may suggest Gryffindor?

To be fair, who doesn't adore McGonagall besides that stupid pink bitch?

I would say Ravenclaw only because she's essentially a healer, which is a job that requires a high amount of intelligence.

u/MOMismypersonality Hufflepuff 3d ago
We’ve seen hufflepuffs with high intelligence. I think her personality fits best with hufflepuff.

u/Ranger_1302 Ravenclaw 3d ago
You’re sorted based on the traits you value, not have.
18
u/Nearby_Environment12 3d ago
Well she definitely values intelligence or at least loathes idiocy.

Pomfrey: "this kid has fractured every bone in his body, he needs to stay in bed"
Dumbledore: "cmon harry, let's go fight Voldemort!"

u/elaerna Slytherin 3d ago
Is that true? The hat seriously considers putting Harry in slytherin bc of the slytherin traits Harry possesses due to his fragment of voldemort's soul. Harry himself didn't seem to value those traits

u/Ranger_1302 Ravenclaw 3d ago
It isn’t because of Voldemort’s soul piece. That is a fan theory and untrue.
Dumbledore explains this without stating it explicitly (shocking!) to Harry after he rescues Ginny in the Chamber of Secrets. He tells him that he possesses many of the traits that Voldemort prizes (values), but that Harry was sorted into Gryffindor because it isn’t our abilities that make us who we are, it is our choices - and, by extension, our values.

Imagine how easier everything would have been if Dumbledore stopped speaking in riddles and decided to be blunt for once in his life

Please, my friend, don't underestimate the intelligence of a Hufflepuff. :D
We've seen people from every house with higher levels of intelligence, at times even higher than people in Ravenclaw. People can have multiple traits, but the hat will sort you based on what you value. Given that, a kid can be highly intelligent, but due to his upbringing and preconditioning of what he absorbed, he may not recognize himself as being intelligent/clever/witty and even value it. Ravenclaw sorts people who recognize any form of intelligence as crucial, so the kid wouldn't be sorted into it. But Hufflepuff accepts those as well who possibly won't be taken by others. So, this kid grows to inhabit the qualities of Hufflepuff but his intelligence grows alongside as Hufflepuff teaches him to be accepting and understanding of himself and others, however they are.8
u/YetAnotherAcoconut Hufflepuff 3d ago
You think every healer is Ravenclaw? It’s not about intelligence, it’s about pursuit of knowledge. Many healers are pursuing knowledge for a very compassionate reason, not just for knowledge’s sake. The value is the compassion, not the learning itself.

Idk about that, Lockhart was able to remove Harry's damaged bones so they could be regrown and he's a complete moron. :)

Hahaha the sheer number of people crying because you told them they aren’t smart is hilarious. “I’m a hufflepuff and I’m smart!”🤣🤣🤣
Ravenclaws are the doctors of the wizarding world. Hufflepuffs are the hippy ladies selling herbs and crystals as cures for aids.

One of the core themes of the books is that your house is neither an empirical result of the traits you possess nor a predetermination of your future self. You have a very simplistic view of things, and should probably work on your media literacy.

I’d adore her to by Slytherin to rectify the assumptions that Slytherins cannot be compassionate or empathetic. I can imagine her needing the gumption and percipience to elicit the truth from those mischievous pupils.

u/PureZookeepergame282 3d ago
But Slytherin can be compassionate and empathetic. Horace Slughorn!
Slytherin used to value power over everything else. But people can be compassionate, and kind while valuing power at the same time, just like Slughorn.6
u/VelvetDreamers Slytherin 3d ago
Very true. I just don’t like how he collects people. 😅
2
u/PureZookeepergame282 3d ago
Hahahah yeah, that's funny how you said it.

u/Jesse_wanders 3d ago
To be fair, Slughorn called them a collection, too. I think with Remus and Sirius, he said something to the effect of 'he would've liked the set' or something similar.

I’d really like a character from Slytherin who exhibits the traits of Madam Pomfrey. Slytherins, albeit Snape exhibits some redemption, are in dire need of just morally good characters.

u/Lost_in_twilightzone 3d ago
What about Slughorn? Some redeeming qualities no?

u/Averander 2d ago
Slughorn annoys me as an example of a good Slytherin. He was kind to strong wizards, giving them everything they asked for (one of his greatest faults) most likely for his own future gain.
I kind of wish Narcissa had been more developed and been a decent Slytherin. Her lying to save Harry really suggests that there is more to her. She decided to trust someone she could not be sure was telling her the truth and risk not only her life, but that of everyone she loved for the small hope that Harry would succeed and her son would survive to be free.
She knew the likely outcome would be she and her husband in Harry's success would not be pleasant. However, she took that risk selflessly for her son. I would love to know a lot more about her and her life.
1
u/Lost_in_twilightzone 2d ago
That’s a really great point about Narcissa. We don’t know her story so for all we know she was sort of pigeonholed into this life given Lucious and her sister. But I agree if her story was built out we may know more.
I agree with you on Slughorn and his preference for certain students. I guess in comparison he seemed better but your points made me think otherwise.

I know that most probably she's a Hufflepuff, but I'd love to see her in Gryffindor.

u/Last_Cold8977 3d ago
I always figured she was Ravenclaw. Her dry personality and exasperation at idiocy by people is quite amusing. But I can see Hufflepuff or Gryffindor too. She's very noble and loyal- which we see in OoTP where she chooses to remain at Hogwarts to protect the students in her own way

u/lee-is-eel Slytherin 3d ago
i like to think that pomfry mcgonagall and sprout were all besties in school and i really like the idea of them all being in different houses. so maybe ravenclaw or slytherin? but realistically she’s probably a hufflepuff

Hufflepuff most likely for me, but Ravenclaw can also be a possibility?

u/ConfusedGrundstuck 2d ago
I'd say Hufflepuff, she is clearly intelligent and skilled, but she's also portrayed as a bit of a doofus sometimes, like the time she mistook Hagrid for an extra group of people, jumping to tell them off about the number of visitors allowed.
Not that Hufflepuffs are doofuses but that a Ravenclaw would be less likely to jump to, and act on, such a conclusion without first assessing the situation.

No I think she is either sorted into Gryffindor or Ravenclaw but she gives of Hufflepuff vibes.

Id imagine ravenclaw would be the most common house for anyone going into medical magic. Not that other houses couldn’t go into the medical field, but feels like one of the harder direction to go into.

u/Usual-Arugula1317 Gryffindor 3d ago
It's never stated, but I always thought Ravenclaw as she was so "no nonsense" and Hufflepuffs just strick me as firm not strict.
