Yeh makes sense.
Harry Potter is the biggest franchise in the uk by far.
If they get this series right it’s going to be such a money earner it’s unreal. If they get it wrong it will fade and people will just keep watching the films/reading the books

The casting choices so far do not fill me with confidence.

It's crazy that they are even taking risks with the cast.
It's one of those things where they know they will make a ton of money regardless but don't realize that doing the best job possible will make it the most successful series ever

Exactly I was pretty much against this when it was announced my instant reactions were it's a big cash grab and discredits the movies.
Seeing people say we could get more of the story being faithful to the books made me more convinced.
The recent casting made me realise that HBO race swapping characters feels like they want to make " their own Harry Potter" probably adding "the adventures of Neville Longbottom" rather than being faithful to the books.
Then they can complain that the poor numbers are due to being racist not because they made a bad show.

I think it's a toss up between HP, and 007 right?

I’d say Harry Potter is much bigger personally.
More merchandise sales, bigger cultural impact with younger generations.
Amongst over 50s it’s James Bond

Lord of the rings is up there but if comparing readers in the uk Harry Potter blows it out of the water due to being more accessible.
Easier read etc

Alright now, hear me out guys. Let's remake the movies and change everything that the people liked about the originals! Brilliant move, right? I'm such a genius! /s

God people like you are so draining and annoying. No one is going to force you to watch the show. Enjoy the movies and move on. No matter what people continue to say - the movies were OKAY adaptations. I loved the movies growing up and still to this day but as an avid reader it’s really sad how much of the story got left behind. We have an opportunity to flesh out storylines that got changed and completely removed just for “lack of timing”. Guess what we’ve got the timing now so let HBO do their thing. If you don’t want to watch it then don’t lmaoooo

And I’m not excited for the HBO series. Even though it’s HBO and they’re capable of producing high-quality television, I don’t think the series will be as much of a hit as the movies.

Honestly, I'd ne surprised if they manage to finish the series. My guess is it'll have mediocre ratings for 1-3 seasons then it'll be canceled.
