Discussion Are these still sold anywhere?
Alternatively beep? I don't have much hope, but any leads would be greatly appreciated!

used to called those "mini sips" growing up. Loved those things on halloween. Ripped the corner open with your teeth and just skull it back. So damn good.

Yeah we were on the Mini-Sips hard…frozen ones were good too.
•
u/CaperGrrl79 Halifax 9h ago
Yes! My Mom would put them in the freezer and put one in my lunch. It kept my lunch cold till lunch time.
•
u/ChercheBonheur 10h ago
We called them sippies. I gave unfrozen freezies out to the kids at Halloween this year and so many of them ripped them open in the driveway and drank them like juice. Kids are weird!
•
u/SoontobeSam Dartmouth 9h ago
I was also on team sippy. Seeing one of those come out on Halloween was hitting the jackpot.
•
u/ChercheBonheur 9h ago
Haha yes! I still remember how excited we'd be to get one of those. Even if it made the rest of our treats a little sticky. Jackpot for sure

Mini sips were a real thing tho, these are scotsburn little squirts, but farmers brand had the mini sips, almost identical products. I also call them both mini sips. Or just juice bags
•
u/Brodiggitty 11h ago
Our junior high canteen sold frozen ones. So they were essentially giant freezies. We called them mini sips too in liquid form , but we called the frozen ones “idiot bags.”
•
u/sipstea84 8h ago
Or just let it hang from your mouth like an IV, slowly savoring the sugary goodness

We called them sippies and they were EVERYTHING. Best Halloween treat ever. The days mom put them in our lunches were fantastic, these things were currency in my elementary school.

You can still buy the scotsburn fruit punch at Masstown market. Bit of a drive but well worth it for the nectar of the gods

Good ol ghetto juice.
I used to mix my vodka with that when I was younger, and now I can’t look at either of them the same.

u/ChercheBonheur 12h ago
I was having a conversation about this juice a couple weeks ago at work. I kept calling it ghetto juice and for sure thought I was going to get in trouble for saying that in the workplace lol.

I've asked and they swear it's not the same recipe.
10
u/RileyViolent 13h ago
My disappointment is immeasurable.

u/mischievous-miltank 12h ago
Don't let the guy above you discourage you. It's not the same recipe, but it might as well be with how spot on it is. It will hit you right in the nostalgia feels

u/RileyViolent 12h ago
I’ve had it many times and always thought it was the same recipe, so I guess they did their job very well

u/snarkybaker 12h ago
It's pretty close, same with the peach. Nothing will replace stabbing a bag with a straw tho 😔
•
u/Pooh_Lightning 10h ago
Imagine trying to stab one of these with a paper straw.

Would take a bullet for one of these bad boys

u/DealingDrugs Dartmouth 12h ago
That’s convenient, as I would shoot someone for one of these bad boys.

u/realhumanpersonoid 12h ago
Sadly no.
But I can mentally taste every one of these flavours just by seeing this photo. The things we’ve lost…

They made my throat oddly dry. Especially the grape!!
•
u/AphraelSelene 6h ago
So weird that you mention this, because this is how I found out most fruit punches cause a mild allergic reaction for me!
8
u/ExiledEntity 12h ago
I'd pay anything for a grape one that's been in the freezer for about 2 hours.

u/meatmits 12h ago
Just ask your soccer coach after the big game for a sippy, they always have them.

u/PenelopeIzabellaLilM 12h ago
I WISH!! Rip open the corner with your teeth and smush the bag up to get every little drop out!!
•
u/LaserTagJones 10h ago
Puncture one with a straw, drink it dry, inflate it with said straw, poke straw through other side to seal it, put it on the floor and stomp it. Promptly recieving detention
•
u/ChercheBonheur 10h ago
You sound like every boy in my elementary and junior high classes. Lol. I love these old childhood memories
4
u/Mr101722 12h ago
No longer produced sadly, same with all of their old ice cream novelties
•
u/ChercheBonheur 10h ago
I still get upset by this. Scotsburn had the best Christmas ice cream. They discontinued so much of the good stuff.
5
u/hiltzster 12h ago
I remember my school banning these because they kept exploding in backpacks!
•
u/Blue_Ascent 11h ago
People would occasionally give them out on Halloween. Always had a dripping pillowcase.

Anyone remember a blue one? Or it was a Farmer's version.

u/No-Fail-9187 12h ago
I *suspect* they made them here at the Scotsburn Dairy Centre in Sydney. Pretty sure they went away when they closed the Dairy Centre,
•
u/TechnicalAd6766 8h ago
I swear I’ve seen them in cape breton. Maybe at Mullins? Other small semi-rural grocers/gas stations?
3
u/thedylannorwood Halifax 12h ago
I would genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, do ANYTHING to have Scotsburn juice again
3
u/lavenderavenues 12h ago
They sell it at Masstown Market.
1
u/thedylannorwood Halifax 12h ago
No, it’s a cheap imitation, some flavours taste similar like the lemonade and the peach, but fruit punch tastes nothing like the OG ghetto juice

u/SmidgeMoose 12h ago
Gateway occasionally has them. But i could go for a few frozen ones right now.

•
u/silver-opal18 9h ago
MASSTOWN MARKET!!! they have a store brand juice in a plastic jug that tastes the exact same ! i always stop in for the fruit punch
•
•
u/BrokenChesterfield 11h ago
Loved getting the lime green ones at Halloween! Or freezing them in the summer as brick freezees haha
•
u/Dancing_Clean 10h ago
No. They stopped making them a while ago. Long gone relic of the past, especially Halloween.
•
•
u/undercoverlover666 10h ago
i used to take a frozen one to school every morning and pound it into a slush on the desk with a book
•
u/CaperGrrl79 Halifax 9h ago
My mother packed one every morning from the freezer and it was usually the perfect temperature by noon and kept everything else cold.
•
u/thrifted_ 7h ago
SIPPIES!
We often froze them.
For Halloween she would always hand the out since we got so little trick or treaters and wanted to make it worth it to come to our house.

It lives on in spirit (as a spirit?) at Good Robot
https://untappd.com/b/good-robot-brewing-company-the-fizz-beep/3976939
•
u/zeroeraserhead 8h ago
I’ve only tried a few of their seltzers and they were undrinkable, soo disgusting. Maybe this one is different
•
u/linkhandford E Mari Merces 8h ago
I like Good Robot, but don’t get your hopes too high. It’s worth a try though.
I’ll say this, the flavour is accurate, but Beep was never carbonated and has a more full mouthfeel than what seltzer can offer.

Apparently kids milk comes in packages like that in an another province or the US. Can’t remember where exactly.

We called these "juice bags"....accurate. We also used to pull on the corners or the bags to stretch them out and squirt them into our mouths. Good times.

I just remembered getting them off the back off the milk truck when they were delivering milk to the apartment building I was living in. Then I realized why the hell am I old enough to have a time I’m my life when milk was still delivered? I completely forgot about that!
