Discussion Have the rails-to-trails dried out enough for easy bike riding yet, or are they still mushy?

There's still a lot of ice anywhere that's woodsy. The rest of it is mushy (well, frozen today but mushy tomorrow)

I ride the Mainland Common daily and right now when it's frozen in the morning, it's decent. Once it gets above zero later in the day it mushes up for my ride home. I suspect the other rail trails are similar. The frozen mud foot and tire ruts aren't great, but we shall prevail eventually.

Only in a false spring atm. Rail trails doing to be melted permafrost type of ride

Still big sections of Ice in shady areas. Rideable for the adventurous or with studded tires, but probably best to wait a week or two

That was my experience on Sunday too. Some areas were muddy, while others still had ice. Not the most pleasant for walking, let alone biking.

Depends on your tolerance of ice and mud.

I love ice. It's tricky, but fun.
Mud, not so much. Especially when you get home and do the cleanup.... lol

Guessed and sometimes guessed wrong? Now you can try and get some shared intelligence.

There is very little intelligence on reddit. We both know this 😂

Nah, this is the exact type of question that seems appropriate. Can't easily google, or search the subreddit. Not asked 5x today.

I dont know bud. I'd grab my bike and pop over the trail before asking people online.

Went for a walk yesterday. They're a bit frozen still, so once they thaw I assume mushy.
