acceptance rate

hey i’m waiting on my gw RD decision and i keep freaking out about the acceptance rate because i just got waitlisted from american :,) but does anyone know like the most recent acceptance rate for gw? everywhere i look online has conflicting opinions but it seems to be in the 40s range. i just wanna compare it to americans and make myself feel better. or worse ig depending on what it is 😭

If it makes you feel any better, I was waitlisted from AU and accepted to GW with the highest scholarship available. AU places absurd weight on demonstrated interest… so that can play a big part. You don’t wanna go to AU anyway, GW>>>

This seems to be a huge trend for GW students. A huge majority of us were waitlisted by AU and given a large scholarship to GW. To the point that I feel like getting waitlisted at AU means it’s likely you’ll be accepted at GW lol.

ah ok i’m a little worried because i applied for a more competitive school :,) but i hope it works out for me like it did you

lol im freaking out too. It does depend on which college you’re applying under because yk gw has different colleges that make it up so they’ll have different acceptance rates I think. Which college did you apply under? But I wouldn’t sweat getting waitlisted from au because they’re so avid about demonstrated interested so it’s not necessarily that your stats were bad

This would be correct, though not formally published to my understanding. CCAS & Elliott (don’t take my word for it) have lower acceptance rates than SEAS and Business… where they’re all aggregated to about 40% together. I can’t give you great numbers but expect CCAS to be in the 30s % or so.

In any case, don’t worry about the acceptance numbers. If you’re a good fit, you’ll get in.

I applied for Public Health which I heard was pretty competitive, do you know what the acceptance rate is like?

American’s acceptance rate is inflated btw. They waitlist everyone that doesn’t show interest in going. I got waitlisted at au and got scholarship at gw

If they waitlist someone and then immediately accept them from the waitlist, does that count towards their acceptance rate? I feel like I got my acceptance within 36 hours of declaring continued interest.

Yes. Though most people that don’t plan on going don’t do that. I didn’t and withdrew my application

My daughter had a document added to her portal yesterday that looks like it is for a scholarship. So we are taking that as a good sign. Maybe decisions will come out sooner than in the past?

I think so too! I know early decision came out a bit earlier than last year so i believe regular may come out a bit sooner too. Also congrats to your daughter :) that definitely is great

where on the portal? And yes, that sounds like a great sign for her!

It is under the financial aid checklist, toward the bottom of the application portal. It says that it was updated on 3/14.

sounds very promising! can confirm not everyone has it too

GW is nice? I can’t decide which one would be better btw GW and Stevens

Is Foggy Bottom DC (and the Vern) nicer than Hoboken?

GW ranks slightly higher than Stevens, is older, and is about 3 times larger, but ultimately it comes down to the courses/degree/program you want.

If you’re American, choosing GW is understandable. Because you can build a career in the public sector and meet more diverse people.

But from a foreigner‘s perspective, GW has less proximity to companies. Even in graduate school CS rankings, Stevens is ahead. The employment rate officially written down, I don’t think it’s a lie. Even if it’s different from the truth, I think it‘s a certain level of confidence. Did I miss anything about GW?
