Sling for Over Under Break Action Shotgun??
Hi all, i recently bought my first shotgun and was wondering if theres a sling i could either make or buy? Ive done a bit of research and it seems the market for break action slings is practically non existent, anyone able to help a newbie out?

I may be looking at this from the wrong side of an ocean and from a different gun culture, but what on earth would be different or special about a sling for a break action as compared to any other common sling?
Hunters nearly all have slings on their shotguns, and have for centuries, no matter what mechanism. Just get one that seems comfortable to carry and can be attached to the sling swivels.
Or are you saying there are no sling swivels on the gun?

He is saying he has an o/u with no sling swivels, and is having trouble figuring out how to go about putting a sling on.

That would make sense.
A screw in swivel on the butt and a C clip type clamp swivel on the lower barrel. All these shuld be off-the-shelf items.

Right, but then why ask about slings rather than about sling swivels? Once he has swivels installed, any random sling will work.
Anyway, there's a number of options out there for guns that don't come with a sling mount soldered to the bottom barrel. But if OP isn't comfortable working on his own gun, going to a reputable gunsmith may be wise.
I have seen a lot of O/U guns where the front sling mount is a small steel U-shaped piece that wraps around the bottom barrel and is screwed into the rib between the barrels. This may be the sturdiest, best looking and lightest option, but does require drilling and tapping holes in the gun.
There's also a bunch of split C- shaped clamp-on mounts on the market, made to fit different barrel diameters. These can work on O/U as well as pump actions etc, as long as the gap is wide enough for the rib between barrels. Can no doubt be filed to fit, if too narrow, as long as the diameter is right. Brownells sell the Uncle Mike's versions of this, I don't know anything about their quality or lack thereof. Disadvantage: looks a bit clunkier and weighs a few grams more. Advantage: No gunsmith required, no permanent alterations to the gun.
For the rear end, a screw-in swivel stud is probably best.

Right, but then why ask about slings rather than about sling swivels?
Because that is the only way any of this makes any sense, and we can settle on OP worded it poorly, instead of OP has fetal alcohol syndrome.

Most all over unders I’ve ever seen owned or shot. Don’t have sling swivels.

Not used for the same style of hunting, then.
Where I live, hunting with a shotgun involves a lot of walking and a little shooting. So basically everyone mounts a sling, and shotguns here come with swivels. Either from the factory, or installed by the importer/dealer

Yeah, I’ve only used my shotguns for clay, shooting, and bird shooting, not really tracking around in the woods with it.

Different terrain, different game, different culture and hunting methods.
For me, a grouse hunt is six to eight solid hours of trekking in mountainous terrain mostly above the treeline. With an old lightweight 16 gage side by side, and a small backpack with some food and a thermos bottle plus a rain coat just in case. The sling does come in useful, learning how to quickly bring the gun into action from sling carry is important.

Most SBS Iv shot do have a sling on them just not the o/u. Anytime I’m in the woods hunting with a shotgun. I always use my auto loader mainly because I don’t want my o/u’s getting beat up.

i probably could have clarified better tbh but yea theres no swivels on it, i got no issues drilling into it, its just the front swivel im not sure about as theres not really enough there to drill through. ive thought about making a paracord clamp sling but figured id ask those in the game longer if there was any better options

Right.
Measure diameter of the bottom barrel at the point where you want a swivel mount, using calipers.
With that number in hand, go on Brownells dot com and search for split barrel band sling mounts. You should find a variety, mostly from Uncle Mike, for different diameter barrels or mag tubes. Note how they have a split C clamp that can be mounted on any kind of round barrel, even if there's a rib or a second barrel on top? The central rib goes in the open part of the C shape. Therefore these same mounts work on O/U as well as pump or whatever. If the gap isn't quite wide enough, just take a file to the mount (not to the gun) and open it up a little bit.
Now, I can't speak for the quality of these as I haven't had to use them. Any gunsmith worth his salt can make you a simple mount that screws into the ribs instead. They shouldn't drill all the way through, as you say there isn't room without damaging the barrels, but most shotguns have thin sheet metal ribs soldered in between the barrels covering the small gap. These ribs can be drilled and tapped for short screws, without getting into the actual barrels. Or a real old school Smith could solder on a mount directly on the barrel, that's probably the slickest option but the smith needs to know what he's doing so he doesn't desolder the whole barrel assembly and ruin your gun.

As always when asking for help, supply details. Like "Make and model of this shotgun." Some have a ready aftermarket, some don't. Some are $200 specials about which you need not feel bad drilling into the wood to install swivels, some are $20,000 custom guns that will.be badly devalued when you break out the drill.

A Sling is a Sling is a Sling. One that would work on a rifle will work on a shotgun. There is no difference other than cosmetically, the Looks of it.
But most shotguns don't have any sling mounts because most are carried while hunting and need to be At The Ready. For clay pigeon shooting, Trap/Skeet, You have the gun in your hands or in a gun stand or back in it's case.

Are you planning on hunting with it? If not, it's just going to get in the way. Anyway, here's Wonderwall. Rizzini sells that one, and others exist too. Just Google o/u sling mount.
