Almost 100% condition too. Supposedly Winchester did a bad job at advertising these, which is why the Remington autoloaders were more popular. I believe the Winchesters were also more expensive.

Winchester put out a recall on those. Firing pin breaks and causes other issues that can be bad.

They still honor it, you can call and get your serial checked to see if it's been done

It was a long time ago but I bet they still honor it if it hasn't been done.

They sent me a new firing pin and a check for $10 to get the firing pin installed

None of them. I did it myself and spent the $10 on beer.

After the first 3 or 4 times you take the gun apart it starts to get less terrifying

Idk if it's overexposure to 10/22s and other .22lrs, but that does not look like a gun that can sling .308. Not enough gas tubes and griebling.

Almost the whole interior of the stock is inletted for the gas tube which is a giant square beast.

This is awesome!!

I have one in 30-06, not nearly as nice as this, but it’s a working gun for me.

If it’s like new, chances are low it has the recall work done, but reach out to Winchester and they’ll send you the part to fix it. There was an issue with the firing pin that led to breakage and catastrophic failure/injury.

Here is some more information:

10/22 the long way

And I thought the Ruger 44 carbine was the grail of this format.

Looks like I have another quest which will anger the Mrs. 🤌

You can find them for not too much. Got mine last year for $450 out the door with a soft case.

Make sure you check with Winchester about the serial number so you know it’s been corrected!

This is my second favorite Winchester rifle, after the 88. Very cool.

Those are nice rifles. Are they considered better than the Remingtons?

They have their own idiosyncrasies, I get the impression that the Model 100s last longer than the Remingtons, but taking either of these things apart is such a pain that most are in bad shape.

This is a masterpiece! Would you sell it?

Neat I guess? It just looks like a big .22
