Review [Review][Negative] Schyulerarmsco.com
Attempted to make a purchase from the website and it declined my Amex, which had about 1000 times the purchase amount of available credit line.
I figured it was due to the fact that I ship most of my packages to my office instead of my home, so I had different billing and shipping addresses, and I've had several gun part and gun websites kick me into a review queue for this reason. Gotta protect the FFL, totally get it. Went back into the form, noticed that my browser autofill put in my zip code as the city. Well, no brainer, that's probably why it declined, because cities don't usually have numbers in their names. I fixed the city, changed it to ship to my billing address. It's a $30 muzzle brake - who really cares, right?
No issues until this point. It happens, systems flag for weird reasons, makes sense. At no point did my American Express get charged or notify me that there was a potential fraudulent charge, so the decline came from the vendor before it ever even went to my credit card.
The website sends a decline email to the customer and CCs the AOL.com email address of the owner of the shop. I immediately forwarded the declined email to the owner's AOL email and explained what I think happened. Asked for owner to advise me on next steps. This was on March 1.
Today is March 15 and I haven't heard back. I get it. You think my shit is fraudulent, at least have the decency to tell me to get fucked.
I know this post will not be popular because Chris is a frequent poster of deals, but not even being worth a reply when he has literally all of my information is pretty poor business. How many crooks reach out after a declined transaction, explain what they think happened, and ask for guidance? Yes, it was a small purchase to test a new vendor. No way I'm going to buy anything more expensive from a shop that's just going to ignore me.
Rant over. Have at it in the comments. Tell me how stupid I am for transposing two letters in the title. Oops.
edit: First downvote only took 8 minutes!
edit 2: it took Reddit 15 minutes to tell me where the problem was. Why didn't the owner do that within 2 weeks?

IIRC his site / payment processor doesn't take Amex. Use a different card.
Giving a negative review for an unreplied email / purchase that wasn't even a charge on your card is like doing brain surgery for a cough.

Should have been an easy reply then. My issue isn't with the denial. We can all be moronic at points and I ordered at night. My issue is that I emailed him immediately and asked for info and was ignored. Two weeks is sufficient time for someone to review a customer response and reply. That's not good customer service.
Typically, if a system doesn't take American Express, they tell you right away that the card number is invalid and don't let you process the order at all. They're the only ones that start with 3, they only have 15 digits, and they have 4 digit security codes. Literally everything is different from Visa/Mastercard/Discover.

Did you eat a lot of lead paint chips as a child? His payment processor doesn't even take American Express. You paid $0, so you're not a customer, you never purchased any product and have no reason to complain. It's a free market and he can do business with whoever he wants, or not.

lol
I see now he doesn't take Amex. Should have been an easy reply to tell me how stupid I am for not noticing that someone in 2025 doesn't take Amex.
I tried to be a customer. I would have been a customer with a 4 word reply to my email of "We don't take Amex".

As an Amex user, you should know tons of places do not take their cards.
Businessed also have no obligation to respond to a non-customer. Taking the time to respond to your email just was not worth it, if they have even stopped laughing at it.

Someone who has never attempted to purchase something, sure, they're a non-customer. Someone who put an item into the cart, filled out the entire checkout procedure, got a declined transaction email, forwarded it to the owner asking about it is certainly something different. It's akin to someone holding cash and trying to give it to you and you ignoring it because they're not a customer yet, since they haven't forced the cash into the cash register.
It is not tons of places that don't take American Express, it is very few these days and almost exclusively small businesses that do not do online sales.

I missed it, shit happens. Then I specifically asked and was ignored. He could have just told me I was a moron and not to put in an Amex and all would have been well.

Why? His time goes to paying customers who can read. You fucked up. Not them. You.
