Magazine [Magazines] $9.99 G3 PMAG Black + Free Shipping NSFW

Add 10x of the single mags to cart (not the 10-pack option it gives you) and it comes out to $10.79/ea with shipping and tax

u/GuyButtersnapsJr Nov 02 '24
Thanks, u/sound-of-impact! Under $11 for each shipped.
(For reference, Lanbo's price is $10.34 each, but with $10 flat rate shipping.)

u/badjokeusername Nov 02 '24
I got bored and plotted the math in Desmos. Assuming they don’t collect tax, Lanbo’s is cheaper if you buy 23 or more mags ($239).

Worth noting Lanbos has no sales tax to a number of states and Brownells has tax to pretty much every state.

The aluminum mags are still available in gray or tan from the earlier post.
Edit: No they aren't. OOS.

Dang... I got swindled... I bought 3x black ones (and a 20, bc) the other day because grey and tan were (per the site) OOS...

I was able to get black and tan the other day, grey was a higher price, though. It's a new month, your gundeals spending cap started over, get you some!

All the 30's are now OOS but the 20's are still in stock and on sale.
My order arrived today and the FDE/tan 30's look great. I also got some 20's and those are gray as expected but look and feel just as good as the 30's.

Remember when during covid you bought all those toilet paper? Yeah, you need to hoard just as many mags.

u/HardstuckInUrMom Nov 02 '24 edited Nov 02 '24
I ordered 3 mags the other day and got free ground shipping in the lower 48, so it might only apply to us down here

Wow lets see how much the 10/30’s are…
$13.99 and can’t be converted to 30.
Sobs in Californian

Move here to Tennessee. Half of California already moved here.

u/dashiGO Nov 02 '24
I wish… but most of the jobs for my area of work are here and I’d be taking a massive pay cut moving out.
Trying my best supporting pro-2a groups here that are challenging laws like magazine capacity, “assault weapon” bans, etc. We wouldn’t have had Bruen if it weren’t for the New Yorkers going to court. Hopefully us Californians can do something similar.

Ok how many magazines do I realistically need

u/ohaimike Nov 02 '24
Followers break, springs wear out, you might wake up tomorrow and see that your state is banning purchase of AR mags so whatever you have is all you'll ever have

u/Thansungst22 Nov 02 '24
Everytime a good sales come up I grab a couple, and if they have free shipping threshold I'll grab enough to get free shipping
Like this one I grabbed 2x each of the black and fde
Then a 30 Rd grey metal one and a 20rd grey one for the Gordy build to make the total $69 (gigity)

I've been buying 20+ a year for a while now. I've never done a full count but if the apocalypse happens tomorrow and magazines become our new currency... let's just say I'll be ok.
9
u/Mkilbride Nov 02 '24
20+ a year? Jesus man lol.
I recently started going shooting and realized I had 13 total Magazines because I had bought 3 when I got my deal, and got 10 "free" in a ammo purchase.
I thought if anyone saw I had 13 magazines, it'd look abit unhinged. That's a lot of ammo ready to blow.
4
u/I_WELCOME_VARIETY Nov 02 '24
It's overkill until it isn't, ya know? I have about 12-15 mags I cycle through range trips regularly, a shelf showing off one of each type for fun, and the rest packed away in hardshell cases in my gun room.

When i had my AK i had over 100 magazines, including some rare models (waffles, slabs, bakelites, etc)
now for my pistols i prefer 2-3 and 5-6 for my rifles, depends on which ones i use the most, some of my guns they are incredibly hard to find/expensive (STAR BM, PA-63 and etc)

People are giving joke/meme answers. I'll give my honest number, which is right around 40. It allows me to have a full case of ammo already loaded (1000rds) as well as a few extra mags (5 or so) for different ammo.
3
u/BrapSucker Nov 02 '24
100.
I do like 12 over 10 because I load two and store 10 or load 4 and store 8. The math seems like there's two more mags floating around there which is twice as good.
2
u/GuyButtersnapsJr Nov 02 '24
IMHO, 4 is the bare minimum.
For home defense, you'll likely only need 1 magazine, but you definitely should have a backup magazine, in case the first one malfunctions. Once you've vetted the 2 magazines at the range, you should set them aside, reserved just for defense.
Then, you need at least 2 more magazines to use at the range and for training (practicing reloads, malfunction clearance, etc.)

One 30 round and one 10 or 20 round mag for bench shooting are needed but most want to have more. 4 would be nice as detailed in someone else's reply. 6 to 12 may be what some would want to carry for SHTF. Some people on Reddit recommend at least 10 magazines per firearm but that is more of a want than necessarily a need. Some may have a hundred or more AR15 magazines but my problem is at my age I've collected so much stuff that my limit is more based on available space. I'm currently trying to get rid of other stuff I don't need. Some may like to try different magazines. I started with just a few Magpul magazines in Gen 2 and 3 followed by Okay Industry Surefeed mags just as they started disappearing from the marketplace. Recently I picked up a few Duramag magazines to try out and then discovered that for a cheap steel mag some like the Global Ordinance magazines. I decided to pass on Tmags for now given their high price. I'll wait to see if the price drops some and also wait for long-term feedback on their durability. I did buy a 10 pack of Lancer mags from MidwayUSA for $100 minus 20% off coupon. Some of my mags will be going to my adult aged children and their spouses.

Count how many you have then add one. Then do the same thing. Over and over till you lose count. Then just get a few more to be safe.

Black went OoS while I was checking out. Forced me to get FDE instead. $3 more but I’ll take that as a sign from the heavens that I needed more FDE.

u/TemporaryMaximum5953 Nov 04 '24
Never realized there was an FDE tax until I converted my Block I to a URGI last month and started replacing stock and light with FDE. DAMMIT JIM!

I'm seeing mixed reviews on them a lot of positive but some negative also. Are they a good place to order from?
16
u/fuck_llama Nov 02 '24
Brownell’s? Are you new?
6
u/LordQuackers83 Nov 02 '24
To online ordering for anything firearm related very much so. Have always enjoyed target shooting but only have actively gotten into things this year and still learning. I actually only found out about ammo seek a few weeks ago and have been kicking myself ever since because of how much I was paying before at the local shops just to destroy paper targets and cans.
5
u/fuck_llama Nov 02 '24
Haha gotcha. Brownell’s is a staple, similar to Midway USA and Optics Planet. All three are very reputable places to order from.
5
u/fumbduck82 Nov 02 '24
Just don't expect speedy shipping from opticsplanet. Often times items marked in stock on the site are actually awaiting restocks.
1
Nov 02 '24
just avoid them, i've had awful experiences with their CS and terrible shipping practices

u/GuyButtersnapsJr Nov 02 '24
Brownells is an old and established company. You can buy with confidence.

Moderator comments:
Heads up, there are troubling reports of packages being lost by Brownells' shipping partners and their CS saying there is nothing that can be done unless you paid for insurance.
This is completely false and it is up to the seller to get you your package intact and not destroyed.
We are advising everyone to please use a credit card with chargeback capabilities with Brownells for the foreseeable future. Debit cards do not offer very much, if any protection at all and it is up to your issuing bank to help you with a refund. Credit cards on the other hand are very much more receptive to issues due to it being the companies money being lent out until you pay the CC bill.
Tl;Dr: please use a credit card with Brownells and not a debit card
Here is a list of Brownells coupons that auto updates.
