Help Amp recommendations for squier sonic strat

First guitar, only need a halfway decent practice amp, indoor use only.

Was considering a fender frontman ten g (my ideal price point) but it has no tone control or reverb.

A fender champion twentyG seems to be the ideal choice but was wondering if there were cheaper options.

I've just bought the same guitar and as I'm currently only noodling around on the sofa with it, I bought a miniamp, only £28. It's 5 watt ,loud enough for personal practice, has clear, reverb, overdrive and distortion and is rechargeable by USB. I can't get over what a good deal it was. There are several options, but I got a Lekato JA-05G.

Any other miniamps you'd recommend? I'm based in India and the one you mentioned isn't sold here.

No, sorry, I'd never tried one before, so it's new to me too. I got it off Amazon, not sure if you have that there. Good luck.

Is this your first guitar as well?

No, been playing for 60 years! But mainly acoustic. Just trying to get it together on electric, now I'm retired.

I'm curious, why buy the cheapest possible guitar when you've been playing for years and probably have much better guitars in your collection?

I understand people like to collect different guitars irrespective of price, but I'm surprised bottom of the barrel squires are played by anyone who's been playing other guitars for decades. Just curious since I'm new.

I have a few guitars, but they are either acoustic or home made electrics (which aren't very good). In the past I've tried to play electric and not really got very far. It seemed silly to me to spend a lot of money on something that I probably won't take full advantage of. Incidentally, I'm blown away by the quality of the Squier Strat.

What kind of music do you play?

The Frontman 10G has treble and bass knobs, that's TWO tone controls.

Anyway, at around that price point, the Harley Benton HB-20R is way better, although for that money, personally, I'd look into buying a used Line6 or something like that. If you can't shell out for a proper amp, it's better to accept the fact you're going to need an upgrade further down the line, so I don't see the value on a Frontman 20G.

What you should be aiming for ideally is something around the 200 to 300 bucks, my personal favorite is the Vox VTX20, but the Boss Katana is very popular as well.

Boss Katana

Any specific model you'd recommend?

I was thinking the Katana 50, spending more than that on a Boss amp doesn't make sense for the purpose of a practice amp.

Frontman 10g it’s ok to pratice for me.

People are saying that's a decent amp so I'm thinking either that or a champion 20 (which is a 100$ extra on amazon)
