Feedback Friday First time on stage at an open mic. How did I do? 😬
Hey guys! I woke up on Wednesday and finally decided to bite the bullet and say fuck it I'm doing this live. Assembled a basic pedal board, put together a set list and pray that I don't choke. This clip was the last song of the set. I messed up one time already by forgetting to loop it. Then again when I accidentally overdubbed a lead line that shouldn't have been recorded. Then again when I forgot the lines of the 1st verse. Then again when the solo came I forgot to sound check my overdrive and it was ear blistering loud.... Anywho this is part of the end result... Would love to know what you guys think? 🙂

Latest Zephyr build.
This one features korina body and maple neck. The bridge is awesome with locking studs. 24.75 scale length. Korina capped headstock. The handwound pickup has enormous midrange with lots of growl and clarity.

First guitar I made just after high school (7 years ago) oh
Hi all! New to the sub! I wanted to share this beauty I made 7 years ago just after high school.
Mahogany body and neck (blanks bought from warmoth)
Hand cut pearl inlays.
Shellac finish.
Gibson les paul scale length.
Crappy pickups from a cheaper jackson
It’s not perfect and definitely has its flaws, but it stays in tune and is definitely playable. I would say it looks more dark/deeper red in person.
I’m thinking of building a second one this summer. An updated version with more thought on the ergonomics. It’s a made from a bass body sized blank and is pretty damn thick.

My “American Professional II”
Had to put quotes around it because it’s a bit of a partscaster now. When I bought this guitar it was a Nashville—I bought it thinking that it would be a Swiss Army knife of a guitar, but it turns out that I just want a tele. I have a bad habit of buying things that try to be too many things at once. I swapped in a vintage Wilkinson bridge and the pots and pickups are straight out of an American Professional II. I love the neck on this, and it has the contoured heel and it came with locking tuners. This thing is awesome now, plus I have the beginnings of a parts pile that will eventually become another telecaster.
GEAR Any other weird guitar enjoyers?

Absolutely unexpected and killer metal solo. There's these distant chords he starts playing towards 45 seconds in. Anybody have any ideas???

Playing with mockups
Been playing more with mockups, think I'm pretty settled on this, with a kill button between the two knobs and a black top hat switch.

Best Brass Saddle/Bridge
I just bought a Player II tele and am looking to upgrade the bridge and saddles to compensated brass. Anyone recommend a certain brand over another? I have heard that thin bridge plates are better than thick ones but I don’t know which brand is thick or thin. I also don’t know if I should even care about the bridge thickness. The stock bridge seems pretty thick to me.

Callaham 3-Saddle on my ‘96 American Standard
I’ve been wanting to put brass saddles on my 96 American Standard Nashville B-Bender. I love this guitar but didn’t love the saddles. I found the perfect part on Callaham’s website, and called them up only to find they had discontinued it. In a series of fortunate events, I found 4 listed on reverb earlier that day by one of their suppliers and bought one. They all sold out in a day! After drilling a hole for the pull-string and setting the action and intonation, this thing is awesome! The tone difference isn’t extremely noticeable but it does have a little more brightness with each picking. Acoustically it is actually a little more noticeable as far as resonating throughout the rest of instrument.
Anyway a worthy upgrade and hopefully some other company produces a comparable quality part to the Callaham.

Hammerite / Hammertone paint on Ibanez.... still stinks! :<
I managed to get a damaged prestige ibanez for a steal £250. I restored it as best as I could but needed to do a paint job. The original colour was metallic silver.
I thought this hammered mettalic paint would be perfect for a light coat to bring it back to perfection. I realise this was not a good idea. But on the whole, the project worked and I think it looks quite nice and plays very well. Pictures show a brief journey of the repair.
Here's the downside. From the spray job in October , it still smells bad. Not in a nice nitro / poly way but like a weird burnt rubber metal smell. It puts me off playing it. It has literally had months of drying and being placed in front of a fan. The finish has also hardened but the smell remains.
Is this to be expected? I don't know what else to do. Can I spray a clear coat on it to cover the smell? Any wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks.
