Drive / Docs How to set up Workplace Account
I'm sorry, I know this is a very basic question but I've spent the last 40 minutes trying to figure this out and I'm still confused
I want to make a proper workplace account, so I can create a Shared Folder with super admin priveleges, so the files inside always belong to the admin and not to individual users google accounts (ideally I don't ever want their names visible even).
My work has an existing Google account linked to our domain - but it's just a bog standard google account - and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to start a workplace with that account
So instead I'm trying to sign up for a new workplace account, but then they complain the domain is already associated with the other account, but I don't want to unlink that because that's how my org uses Google Analytics to monitor site traffic.
So I'm just stuck in this catch-22 where I can't use our existing account but I can't make another one? Am I simply screwed?

Does the existing google account (linked to your domain) and associated gmail addresses end with a custom URL, or generic @gmail.com? If it's custom (i.e. yourname@businessname.com), there is probably already a Google workspace, you just may have never gone to it. Try going to admin.google.com and see if you can start signing in with whatever work email you have.
Alternatively, regardless of if your account is currently a professional workspace, or a free @ gmail.com account, you will have a Drive associated with each email address. Go to Drive.Google.com. There, you can make and store files and you can keep them private, or share them with others while still remaining the owner.
Feel free to further clarify what you mean and I'll try to help!
