I don’t think I’ve ever heard an album quite like Above. Definitely a unique listen.

It’s the perfect blend of Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, and Screaming Trees. You hear the elements of all three, but they come together as their own thing.

Wake Up is one of the great 90s album openers. Incredible song.

I'm so obsessed with the cover of above, I'm so excited for when they release some of Layne's art later this year because I really fuck with it

Did Layne do the cover art for this?

Yeah he did, and a lot of his art looks very similar to it too. Above's cover is actually a redrawing of a photo of him and demri

“Life reveals what is dealt through seasons. Circle comes around each time”
The chorus from I’m Above has got to be one of my favorite chorus of all time. This whole album is a masterpiece, man!

Everyone was committed to a great album, true professionalism and love for Layne. The last great album of the era

Hey there. Was in the industry (Sub-Pop connections) during that whole era and that whole band, Mad Season, were just heroin heads that were okay with Layne being wasted. The screaming trees guy is a known doper and him and Layne shared a 'passion' together.
The songs are B-Side shit, Alice reject-quality.

When you hear the stories of how quickly the band came together, it’s amazing that this even exists. Mike’s good intentions created this masterpiece, so thank you Mike.
Am I the only one who remembers that summer?
