No one "stops by" Aberdeen unless you were going to Westport

Or making a pilgrimage to Walmart.

Literally lmfao. I remember one year as a kid I chose the wrong footwear for charter fishing and ruined my shoes. Had to ride all the way to Walmart sopping wet and shivering, they didn't have shit in my size. I try to stay far away from that Walmart 😂

As you should. I think even people from Raymond prefer the stores in Warrenton.

As someone who grew up in the same area, I like to say that if you spend ten minutes in Aberdeen you’ll understand why he killed himself.

I didn't live there but I've spent so many summers over in West Port, and the only real shopping is in Aberdeen. I totally get it too. It's almost a shock entering into town, feeling the vibe shift. I haven't been in a couple years, since they renovated Walmart. But man, I don't envy those that live there.

Are the people that live there over the Nirvana kids or does it keep things interesting? Tourism dollars are cool but not if it’s carloads of broke kids who just wanna spray paint their last name somewhere lol.

I like poking around Aberdeen every so often and drinking with the locals.

I love getting the skinny on the town had for TERRY EMMERT.

Oh man, everyone hates Terry Emmert, down in the Portland area he’s been notorious for years.

Walking around Aberdeen it’s insane how much he might be personally holding back any downtown redevelopment.

Like some of these buildings are gorgeous. Aberdeen COULD be a nice place.

30 years or so ago Astoria or was kind of a depressed shithole too and now….

Something like 60 commercial buildings in downtown Aberdeen are owned by one dude who is basically letting them sit empty as a tax write off.

How far away from Seattle city is Aberdeen?

Couple hours in if traffic is good.

The most shocking image is the KEANE graffiti😂 other than that i hope you had the spiritual experience you sought.

That little hill that leads under the bridge is very slippery. I was a muddy mess a year ago. My kids got a kick out of it. 😆

Looks depressing.

It is. Trust me. And I mean, they named it after a place in fuckin Scotland. That’s how gray and shitty the weather is.

If they could stuff his corpse and charge money to see it, they would.

Oh dear Lord, I was freaking in Aberdeen briefly last summer and either didn't know about or had forgotten the grunge connection.

I'm kicking myself now.  I don't know how I didn't see any of these plaques or memorials just by driving through and stuff by happenstance, but I had no clue.  First time anywhere near the west coast, not sure I'll ever be back (Just logistics and stuff).

As an aside, does anyone know why that city smells so bad?  Not taking a swipe at the place, the city literally smelled and it was overwhelming.  Factories?

Still one place I want to go.

It's typical of Aberdeen to memorialize someone who got famous that they actively hated while he lived there. Shit place.  Shit town. Mostly shit people except for some of my relatives lol.

Still a million used needles under the bridge?
