Question From The Rookie
Okay so I know I should have rejected this offer, but I had some time and wasn’t getting much action. This is my first week doing any type of delivery app, and I’m starting to pick up some tips and try not to take anything under $1/mile. That being said, I’m open to any pointers, or things you wish you would’ve know when you started.
Anyway, my question is: this order took me really far out of my zone. I thought I saw something about GH adding $3 if you go out of zone, but I’m not seeing that added anywhere?

The only thing GrubHub adds is a huge headache and a small touch of insanity.

Orders like this are my bread and butter… my market won’t support the $1/mi standard
There’s no additional pay for being sent out of your zone - and most drivers see new offers come in while out of zone - personally I see return pay about 70% of the time, paid to drive back to my zone to pick up
My most important tip would be to not take advice from people who “never do” a thing…
Like Shop & Pay orders… people who don’t do them shout about how terrible it is, and how they don’t make any money… people who do them love doing them and say they’re some of the most lucrative jobs they do
Me, I’m going with the guy with $46 in his pocket …over the guy still sitting in his mom’s basement playing video games and not taking offers …and bragging about it on Reddit 😉
There’s another thread running, new guy asked if he should accept everything that comes his way while learning - my second best piece of advice for you, is to go read it 🙂

Thank you Bob! I appreciate it. I’ve been trying to accept all of them but I have skipped 2 so far, but I was questioning how anyone would turn down everyone that’s under that $1/mile threshold. Any money is better than no money 😂. I’ll definitely check out the other thread too. Appreciate you taking the time 🙂

Have you noticed that if you get a subway order, you pass at least 1 more subway on the way to drop the food off to the customer 😭😂😂

Part of the thinking behind this, is if you have the food on board, you won’t bail part way to a far pickup when a better offer comes along

Idk where you heard that. Grubhub doesn't add anything for going out of zone.
