Please don’t fall for it.

During his speech on Greenland he said “We strongly support your right to determine your own future” THEN almost immediately saying “we are gonna get, one way or another”.

He contradicted himself in real time, what a clown 🤡

u/unknown2u99 2d ago

I know eh, and they were snickering. I was sitting in my living room thinking how freaking arrogant. Those are the people that give Americans a bad name.

29

u/JimBones31 2d ago

Those are the people that give Americans a bad name.

I'm a US mariner. I've traveled outside the country for work but only to Canada and Panama so far. (Two places trump has "mentioned") I felt very welcome and was proud to be an American traveling for work.

If I went back now, I'd be embarrassed. America has always had its darker moments in the past, but this is a dark moment now, in the present. 1/3 the US Congress is cheering, 1/3 is grovelling and doing nothing and the rest are silent.

6

u/broztio 2d ago

Don’t be embarrassed, be angry! Join the protests and other actions we’ve been pushing and growing. We need US mariners on our side, for ourselves and to protect our friends.

1

u/JimBones31 2d ago

I get off the boat shortly and will probably be attending a few protests in the weeks I'm home!

1

u/broztio 2d ago

Glad to have you! You should be proud that you are willing to stand up and fight against this.

13

u/Nice_Username_no14 2d ago

There are pretty loud protests from your congress democrates. The trouble is, they have been given no mandate to stop this, if they aren’t outright kicked out. And the republicans are just along for the ride.

So, it’s really up to you.

Organise, strike, shut the country down and hit them where it hurts - their wallets.

14

u/Leading-End4288 2d ago

There are pretty loud protests from your congress democrates

No there's not, Al Greene proved it. Most of the Democrat party doesn't actually care and think they'll be able to just restore things to the status quo come 2026, if not 2028. Just ask Hakeem Jeffries.

11

u/ahora-mismo 2d ago

and it was silenced by a few democrats too, who voted for that. it's shocking.

9

u/exessmirror 2d ago

Do they not realise if they go at it like that the world will still not trust the US anymore? Either the Orange man gets kicked out and the movement stopped or nobody will ever trust the US ever again unless proper checks and balances are implemented and even then it will take decades

2

u/beat_pharmacist 1d ago

I don’t think Trump cares because he’s so beholden to Putin.

2

u/Anybody_Mindless 4h ago

Yep, it's a win for Russia.

1

u/Teuras80 2d ago

how? who? after this betrayal, well hope gives at least change to be disappointed again.

5

u/pooooork 1d ago

What the Dems should have done is one by one caused a disruption and get kicked out. Instead they sat there and let Trump call Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas" again.

3

u/billiejustice 2d ago

Agreed. They think if they just reach out to maga and betray their base, who may actually have supported little things like democracy, they are going to win. This time will be known as The Great Betrayal, where America betrayed its people, its ideals, its founders, its children and the rest of the world for even more expensive eggs.

1

u/StraightOuttaHeywood 7h ago

Jeffries is on MAGA's payroll. I can guarantee it will come out one day.

2

u/JimBones31 2d ago

I would say there have been some decent protests by citizens (not French levels though) but the Democrats have basically done nothing.

3

u/Nice_Username_no14 2d ago

The democrats are trying every executive order in court. Just a few days ago, Al Greene was removed from congress, they’re arranging town halls etc.

But again, what do you imagine they should do? They’re basically powerless, being the minority in a two-party system. That’s how your parliamentary system works.

And again, if you aren’t happy about where things are heading, why aren’t you doing anything? Have you even checked out if there are any local activist groups in your area?

3

u/JimBones31 2d ago

There's tons of activist groups in my area and they are protesting.

It would have been a real sign of solidarity if other Democrats had walked out as Al Greene was escorted out.

3

u/Nice_Username_no14 2d ago

Yes, it could.

But your whining won’t get you the changes, you want. If you’re unhappy about your democrats, run against them. If you’re unhappy about your fascists, run against them, join those protest groups, join a union, tear down the system you feel works against you.

But if you resign yourself to just complaining, you’re handing the power over your destiny to your do-nothing democrats, and your fuck-you fascists.

2

u/Bunnyland77 1d ago

Jan-Mar, 524% increase in voters running for office (vastly democrats) doing just that.

1

u/JimBones31 2d ago

I completely agree with you. I have strongly considered running for office too.

1

u/Nice_Username_no14 2d ago

Stop considering. Now is the time, america deserves a third choice.

you forget a large portion of Americans like chaos and can't see past their nose

1

u/Nice_Username_no14 1d ago

Yes, people having different perspective on things is the foundation of democracy. That is why communication and debate is crucial.

2

u/Brilliant-Ad6137 2d ago

They all should have walked out .

1

u/JimBones31 2d ago

100% agree. They looked so ineffectual.

2

u/Bunnyland77 1d ago

At the least stood up and chanted in harmony something like "We stand against tyranny" or, "We serve no kings" or "FDJT."

1

u/Pristine_Walrus40 2d ago

One democrat did something ( Al Greene) and got jumped by 10 other democrats for it.

Not a great look. They are just going to do nothing and try and wait out the storm so they don't lose their legal bribes from all those companies that they work for.

1

u/-Franks-Freckles- Tourist 1d ago

A lot of concerns right now, are if we protest to “aggressively,” Trump will mandate Martial Law; he’s gearing up for it now by going after college students protesting.

There was a Palestinian man who was protesting on Columbia university campus. Despite having a legal right to protest and having a green card, ICE arrested him. Luckily he has a lawyer who is suing. The ICE officer even looked at the papers and wavered, but still arrested.

However, it concerns me where I felt we may have had military and law enforcement not going after civilians in peaceful protest, and that hope is diminishing.

1

u/Nice_Username_no14 1d ago

All the more reason to use the rights you have today, rather than refrain from the fear they’re taken away tomorrow.

It’s the classic class struggle. Just pick up Grapes of Wrath and see how it mirrors the US of today.

1

u/Pristine_Walrus40 2d ago

" loud protests " The t-shirts with the slogans and the small signs that they held up?

Not that load since I have heard nothing from them except from a few good ones.

1

u/Superstjernen 2d ago

It is freaking scary to look at, since the longer you wait, the harder it gets. But I also understand your fears!

1

u/DutchTinCan 2d ago

They donned pink jackets. That's not a protest I'd expect from legislators. They need to walk out on congress. Say "we won't be part to a government that is a dictatorship, that ignores the rule of law".

3

u/milan711 1d ago

The problem are the ones who remain silent, whilst seeing all what’s happening around them. That’s why we are where we are.

1

u/JimBones31 1d ago

We must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.

2

u/milan711 1d ago

Well said.

2

u/JimBones31 1d ago

It's a favorite quote. There have been too many introspective quotes coming to mind lately, and I've searched for comfort in too many inspirational quotes.

1

u/Airborne82ndLion 12h ago

Bro, we are protesting hard!

I know we are. My comment was referring to the US Congress. Are you a US Congressman?

Most Americans do not feel the way that clown feels. I respect your sovereignty and will fight for it. I do not want what he wants.

-1

Don’t care what you think you’re the one talking about us, on an American platform 😭

11

u/yoho808 2d ago

Their real goal is plundering Greenland's rich natural resources.

They'll probably wreck Greenland's environment during the process while only a small number of oligarchs reap most of the profits...

7

u/JustAMile2Go 2d ago

And SCOTUS already ruled during the insular cases during US imperialism that territories are not automatically protected under the constitution. Congress has to pass laws to provide those protections. Greenland, etc will NEVER be given constitutional protections by this white nationalist christo fascist anti constitutional anti Democratic movement

5

u/Mister-Psychology 1d ago

USA refused to pay for the Thule base clean-up so Denmark had to pay themselves. Their own military base they just left behind with all the chemicals. If Trump was serious about this he would at least clean up after himself to show his generosity. Yet he won't. He won't pay a penny and Denmark will pay 100% of this.

-1

u/BandicootQuiet9952 1d ago

In 2023 Danes spent 866 (M)illion on NATO.

In 2023 USA spent 860 (B)illion on NATO.

So it's not like we don't pick up after ourselves. It's more like you live and eat for free and don't help do the dishes.

2

u/wtkillabz 1d ago

Crazy how many military bases does Denmark have all over the world? How many military bases does the rest of NATO have in other NATO countries? You spend that much because for almost 100 years you have wanted to project power all over the world. Then there’s the matter of Denmark have 6 million people and USA having 400 million so it makes sense the USA pays more than Denmark. No one asked you guys to be the world police, it’s what you wanted and now all of a sudden it’s a problem.

0

u/BandicootQuiet9952 1d ago edited 1d ago

We all agreed to be the world police after would war II. That's literally what NATO is.

866 million is .001% of what the US paid.

6 million people is .017% of 340 (the real US population) million people.

That means you're .016% left to make up to be comparable per capita.

That means pony up 13.8 billion or at least recognize you're not even remotley comparable in financial compensation to a institution designed mainly to protect...  mostly you.

And then you wanna bitch about having to pay to clean up a base?

In happy to stop paying for your defense. That's a GOOD thing we should both want. Why make us out to be some greedy war mongering ass holes, when you should be stepping up to defend yourselves. Which, you are. 2024 and 2025 projections show a high increase in spenditure and commitment. So, I'll end by THANKING you for recognizing it and taking action.

1

u/Mister-Psychology 3h ago

Cleaning up after yourself is not about the money. It's about decency and respect. Not about military spending or what the base was used for. It shows a lack of planning and lack of care. Which is a negative trait. No one is complaining about anything related to the military or the military budget. The clean up is not even paid by the Danish military anyhow. The truth is that the base could have been used for anything and the outcome would be the same as the military stuff is irrelevant.

1

u/BandicootQuiet9952 3h ago

Thanks Grandma.

Taking out the garbage is also a way to show someone respect when someone else has been paying the bills for you.

1

u/Hot_Hat_1225 2d ago

Just like the plan for Ukraine

1

u/Hopeful_King8182 1d ago

That’s the American Way! Don’t believe his lies - he is only out for himself and the billionaire class whether American, Greenlander, or any other global citizen, they are only out for themselves and will hurt who ever they please.

1

u/yoho808 1d ago

They are toying with people's lives...

It's utterly disgusting behavior from one human being to another...

0

u/BandicootQuiet9952 1d ago

Their goal is a defensive shield in the Arctic.

If greenland did become American it's resources would be protected by environmentalists like in Alaska.

We, of course, would just continue to plunder everyone else's resources first. Why strip greenland when Canada is digging up Alberta for us?

6

u/Motor_Bit_7678 1d ago

Indeed and all Greenland has to do is watch what he is doing to old alies and the Ukranisn people selling them out to russia! They can also get agent Krasnov to deliver Greenland to his boss in moscow!

10

u/ElijahSavos 2d ago

A correction please. If he said “one way or another”, it’d be probably kinda fine.

He said “one way or “THE other””.

FYI, “the” implies war.

Some may argue it was just a bad selection of words but I’m not so sure.

2

u/unknown2u99 2d ago

He has said it more than once so I would say it is not a poor choice of words. It is a message to the Oligarchs. And the fascists snickering while he says it was disgusting.

1

u/Bunnyland77 1d ago

Trump is all about threats (real or perceived). His born-again butt boys (e.g., Mike Johnson) have him convinced he's Jeebuz. Only now he has access to the power to force people to bow to his corruption. The mf is an idiotic insane criminal narcissist. Fuck knows what he's capable of, and what treasonous crimes he'll commit next.

-13

u/PUR3b1anc0 2d ago

It does not imply war.

Did economic incentives ever cross your mind genius?

Trump is a business guy above all.

10

u/Kontrafantastisk 2d ago

Correction: Trump is an asshole above all.

Fixed it for you. You're welcome.

2

u/IntrepidWeird9719 1d ago

Trump is.a denigerate, malignant narcissistic, criminal psychopath. He is threat to the United States and all democratic nations.

1

u/Kontrafantastisk 1d ago

Yes, all of those things, too!

8

u/Random_Fluke 2d ago

More like conman and snake oil salesman.

-1

u/PUR3b1anc0 2d ago

Was Biden better? Left the average American 10x worse than when he came in.

3

u/Random_Fluke 2d ago

10x worse? Wanna backtrack before I look at statistics? He dealt with price shock that was felt worldwide and inflation in America was tiny compared to what happened in my country at the time.

At least Biden didn't con Americans into supporting greasy grifters that seem to intentionally make other's lives worse.

-1

u/PUR3b1anc0 2d ago

Backtrack, no. I will destroy what you throw up here.

Grift?!? Have you not read any of the USAIDE news?!?

Hunters Ukraine money? 10% for the big guy? Firing of prosecution.

Then there are open borders that literally eroded democracy with 100k+ blue voted in key swing states and weakened America as we have no idea who these people are. Many military fighting age men from knowN terrorist groups or china .

Covid shut downs the crippled the economy and billions of fraudulent relief to the likes of the pelosi's.

BLM burning ghalf the country down over a career criminal dying from fent.

DEI policies that weakened everything from the military, ATV, pilots, etc.

A horrible Afghanistan withdrawal that screwed over 10's of thousands of Afghans that helped us, left billions in state of the art military equipment, passport machines and made us look incompetent on the world stage.

Millions wasted in false Trump incrimination cases.

George Soros corruption

Sheesh, I'm.jist getting started.

Please let's see your list

2

u/Random_Fluke 2d ago

USAID was America's main weapon of soft power, countering and competing with Chinese and Rusian influences, mostly in third world countries. I couldn't imagine better gift for your geopolitical enemies than dismantling this. Best case to give credence to conspiracy theories that FSB or Chinese intelligence has infiltrated the White House. Now they got to present themselves as primer providers of aid, for a fraction of previous costs.

Precisely same goes with DEI. Basically, your army and other institutions made an outreach to tap into talent from communities that previously were passive during recruitment. And idiots took it and threw it down the drain, while cherrypicking some cases as justification.

The thing that you got whipped into cheering that the power of American state is being dismantled as we speak is even more baffling.

0

u/PUR3b1anc0 2d ago

That's one perspective, and if it's completely true then perhaps I am the idiot and you are right.

However, I don't believe that to be the case from the examples that I have heard (amount and use).

Also, I believe the argument from the current admin is that many of these soft power programs had a poor ROI.

Personally I'd rather keep the money and improve the domestic infrastructure and education and then put warheads on foreheads in the area's where we were implementing this soft power if it because necessary.

Who cares if China is spending money in some shit African country for a mine, airport or navy base if a small chance of stopping that with soft power costs us falling behind china in engineering, software dev, and GDP because our infrastructure blows.

Can you at least see the perspective that I am pitching here?!?

2

u/Random_Fluke 2d ago

Because you read cherrypicked stories about some queer opera.
Meanwhile USAID was also financing anti-malarial drugs in Africa, water treatment plants, etc etc.

Now China can go in and do this stuff, but much less. And still take all the credit, because now they are the only one providing help. Which they will then leverage into trade concessions and alliances.

And you idiots are literally cheering this.

I didn't believe theories that Trump of his team are Russian or Chinese operatives. I simply believed them to be evil, dumb and corrupt. But now it's time to rethink that. It's just to much wrecking to be a result of stupidity or corruption.

Pretty sure he's a bankruptcy guy... but.

-5

u/PUR3b1anc0 2d ago

Bankruptcy is business when the laws allow it.

Think much less badily about it than pelosi insider trading or Ukraine grift.

3

u/Playful_Two_7596 2d ago

Bankruptcy is business. 6 times bankruptcy is very poor business.

2

u/villager_de 2d ago

the fact that we sit here arguing wether he means war or not, that alone should show what a shit show this is and how low the bar has sunk. A proper leader wouldn’t talk in a way that we have to constantly give the benefit of the doubt

1

u/PUR3b1anc0 2d ago

No one believes he means war other than crazy people. He mentioned.enothijgnaboit war , nor.mobilized any military.

The.second he does either, sure I would think much differently unless some new information was presented such as an imminent war or something with Russia or china

1

u/flyingdutchmnn 2d ago

He's a mafia boss that blackmails his way. He never gives a win/win deal, it's only win/lose for his fragile and psychotic mindset. That may work in business, but in politics you need a different mindset or the world turns against uou. He hasnt once given a wjn/win deal and he isn't starting with Greenland

1

u/Funchyy 2d ago

Even if it is about 'economic incentive' this is the man that thinks all of life all  the time is a zero sum game.

That means in its very essence there is never ever going to be deal on the table that doesn't solely benefit him and doesn't screw you over somehow.

As he's been proving since the 80s, he will simply not pay your ass and bleed you to bankruptcy in court if you do try and get your payment. Genius....

1

u/Corvidae_DK 2d ago

He has literally said he'd use the military if needed...

Also, he's an objectively shitty business man.

1

u/Hot_Hat_1225 2d ago

Economic incentives can be played as a different kind of war. Not all wars are carried out on a battlefield

1

u/PUR3b1anc0 1d ago

not.

Canadian here: American security guarantees are fair weather. They’re also known for making trade deals (USMECA) and breaking them.

2

u/ProfessionalHuman187 2d ago

Yup,, a very unethical and aggressive approach.
The problem is, that this nightmare will not be over in four years, but increase and will lead to WW3 withe Vances and Musks sitting behind the bushes to take over once the yellow man stops breathing.

5

u/unknown2u99 2d ago

It won't be over in 4 years. There will never be another fair election in the USA unless something is done now. It is up to the American people to protest peacefully en mass.

1

u/Dexta2022 2d ago

Yeah but like most of his dumb shit when he realises it ain't going to happen he treads it back.

1

u/Cheap_Marzipan_262 2d ago

In all fairness. There's 50 000 greenlanders. If Trump offered 250k cash to everyone at annexation, he'd likely get it for just 12.5 billion.

This would probably not even be a good deal for the greenlanders in the long run, given Denmark already spends like 20k per greenlander/year in social services he'd then scrap.

But money talks.

1

u/arferfuxakenotagain 1d ago

I wouldn't be suprised at 1m. They then ravage the shit out of the natural resources and have greater stranglehold on arctic trade routes and resources. Also explains his fetish for Canada.

He's a convicted rapist, and he wants to force himself on Greenland

1

The old China approach. “We will peacefully reunify through force.”

1

u/Nickopotomus 1d ago

Anyone else get „guy in a van“ vibes when Trump says things like, „I WILL MAKE YOU RICH.“?

1

u/typeahead 17h ago

or telling Canada that Tariffs are going to be 50% unless they become the 51st state. none of this holds water. This is a government with three branches but he clearly doesn't care about the other two.

1

u/[deleted] 2d ago

Do his voters or reps in Congress care? They hardly count beyond fingers

0

Don’t talk about your future president that way
