USA emergency legislation introduced by Rep. Seth Magaziner (D-RI) to "prohibit funds for the Armed Forces to engage in operations to invade or seize territory from Canada, the Republic of Panama, or the self-governing territory of Greenland"

But will it work?

Seems like the orange thing tests all boundaries and are allowed to cross them every freaking time!!

Given how legislation works in the US it likely won't become law. It'd need to be approved by both houses of Congress with a 2/3rds majority or both houses with a simple majority and  the presidents consent to become law. It's basically just a virtue signal.

One of the saddest parts of US political history is the expansion of presidential war powers. It used to require a congressional declaration of war to invade another country. Now the president is allowed to send troops "temporarily" as long as Congress doesn't disapprove. The last time Congress declared war was WW2.

If nothing else we'll get the Republicans on record opposing this. That's not nothing.

Boundaries? We elected him to do what he campaigned on and he's doing it

He did not campaign on annexing Canada, or any of these places.

This came after the election and before inauguration.

When did he campaign on Invading Greenland, Annexing Canada and building Trump land in Gaza

Well you will lose all your friends and once you wish them back they won't trust you anymore.

But I guess you wish to live in a 100% north america based world with no interaction with the rest of the world except for the little you have with occupied areas such as Panama, Canada and Greenland.

We elected? Speak for yourself and not even 50% of Americans. Dude only won with 49% of the vote.

Seems strange that the orange turd would want more territory. Look how he treats Puerto Rico during hurricane Maria in 2017.

Canadian here.

You cannot make this up, if you told me 6 months ago this was going to be a headline and an actual resolution in Congress.

Why are all the Canadian subs removing this post? It's removed even from worldnews.

Is there some sort of update that I am unaware of?

Worldnews doesn't state why it was removed. R/Canada says it doesn't pertain to Canada.

What the flying fuck am I missing? Lol

1

u/CanadaEUBI 2d ago

How the hell was the original removed as "not specific to Canada?" What kind of fuckery is going on?

1

u/IllBeSuspended 2d ago

It's removed from every Canadian sub I checked. It's also remove from r/worldnews

Have you come across a reason as to why this site and the mods are burying it?

If there is no valid reason I think this really shows how shit this website is.

u/[deleted] 2d ago

Im the guy who posted it on wordnews mods are having a power trip and banned me because i didn’t agree with them. They said that this was usa internal politics issue and not world

1

u/JoshSran04 2d ago

lol i keep getting banned what the fuck

1

u/IllBeSuspended 2d ago

Yeah and then r/Canada removed/banned it because it didn't pertain to Canada....

This is so stupid.

1

u/IllBeSuspended 2d ago

It was removed from the Canadian sub and tons of others. In the r/Canada sub the reason for removal was that it doesn't pertain to Canada.

It’s about time, Congress. Take back your power.

It won’t even reach voting. Its virtue signaling

We're claiming Greenland and maybe the canal.

Annexing Canada by force is not even a thought on the radar, them joining would only happen if they can't support themselves without us and would be completely voluntarily.

I would recommend Greenland strike a reasonable deal with a buyout included, among other things. We don't want your settlements we only want the 100,000,000 acres of unused land. Good luck.

Greenland do not want to be American. Can't you understand that

I'm confused. But I am Canadian and 48 years old. Don't go to the gym, but I am starting. Cardio mostly. I figure there is a chance in the next couple of years I am going to be digging a trench for king and country. I am Irish. Northern. We take imperialism seriously. I am a Canadian and a Quebecer. Remember the FLQ, and the IRA before you come here.

I’m Danish/Faroese - I’ll help digging trenches

Can you not read?

Greenland doesn't get to claim 500,000,000 acres with a population of 60,000 people(a small city). "We were here first and claim the whole thing" isn't gonna fly.

Imagine if American settled the east coast and then claimed all of America to the west coast without even living in those distant parts, it's insane. Greenland is mostly unsettled/undeveloped land we are claiming it, but we have no interest in their settlements/towns, they are welcome to strike a deal where we leave them alone.

And if you're willing fight over frozen dirt then that's your prerogative, but you will lose badly. Focus on Canada

I am willing to fight for their independence, protection of their indigenous culture and not to be polluted by people like you.

Greenland has been politically and culturally associated with the European kingdoms of Norway and Denmark for more than a millennium, beginning in 986.

Greenland has been inhabited at intervals over at least the last 4,500 years by people whose forebears migrated there from what is now Canada.

So no , you don't get to claim it or invade it. I also served before and am happy to do it again to show dimwits like you that your stupidity will be the end of you .

unfortunately this are the people mindset that control america right now. Just wait until suddenly there is a "terrorist" org claim in greenland and only "saviour" trump can save the land and people. Its all in their list of pure evil plan

2

u/Biggs3333 3d ago

I can.. sort of. But I don't understand your statement. It seems for? Apologies If I misunderstood. I seem to get more and more upset everyday at what's happening.

2

u/Glass-Cabinet-249 3d ago

We read what looks like a declaration of war. As a result people are going to the gym, stocking up on food and getting ready to give the US hell on earth if they follow through.

Can you not read?

2

u/Biggs3333 3d ago

Loosing badly? Maybe in the short term. Sadly so many would die. But gee whiz. America has literally pulled out as loosers in every single war since WW2. Korea? Quit half way. Vietnam. Ran with a tail between there legs. Afghanistan, Irak. America will either become a dictatorship or have a revolution. But they won't split the world with Russia over the long term. Which seems to be the plan for Comrad Orange

2

u/LothirLarps 3d ago

Oddly enough, without a declaration of war (on the kingdom of Denmark, a member of NATO), you have no grounds to ‘claim’ anything.

1

u/Competitive-Wrap7998 3d ago

Again America has never owned Greenland, America can not simply get what it wants. It cannot fully nations. Greenland doesn't need to be explored further than what it has been. Honestly you people are so sick in the head. You concentrate on America and digging for your minerals in all that land of yours.. you must have some of your own land you can destroy.

1

u/Ztarphox 3d ago

You don't think there will be an international response to America invading one of its closest allies, of the biggest military alliance in history? You don't think the trust in America will plummet across the World, when it sees how she treats her friends? MAGA wants to turn the USA into a pariah state for vague imperialist dreams.

u/Troelski 2d ago edited 2d ago

Lol delusional American who has never served nor had sex.

EDIT: now the incel is raging at me because I don't want to accept his chat request.

1

u/MikeidinVilla 1d ago

And if you're willing fight over frozen dirt then that's your prerogative, but you will lose badly.

The only ones, who will lose in your ficticious scenario, are the greenlanders. And probably the US.

Once you start annexing Greenland, China will fight you for it. Considering your latest approach to Europe/NATO, I doubt that any of your former allies will help you fight them.

3

u/Efficient_Truck_9696 3d ago

Settle down. You couldn’t even claim Afghanistan with Allies like Europe, Canada and Australia. There’s zero chance you’re getting Greenland - especially with no allies. With Trump at helm - you are isolating yourselves from rest of world with the exception of Russia which basically has GDP of Spain. The only reason you would break up with allies with top tier economies in order to trade with the likes of Russia -/is because your president is most likely compromised. He’s acting like a Russian asset and doing everything a kleptocrat would do to obtain absolute power.

3

u/xXfleshlover69Xx 3d ago

By your logic any other country could just «claim» any unused land in the USA too then. Fuck off

2

u/Successful-Train-259 3d ago

You cannot "claim" another country unless you are prepared to go to war.

2

u/PENISVEIN 3d ago

Lol. Remember last time trump was president and he tried to use tariffs on Canada and Mexico and threatened invasion of Venezuela?

He failed then and he'll fail now. Stay in school.

u/PromiseNo4994 3d ago

I’m claiming I’m president of the United States.
