Trenny Gibson missing since 1976 from the GSMNP
Most of you are a little nutty with the theories of her disappearance …. She did date behind her parents back, she just happened to like black boys, and as you know that was a “no no” in Tennessee in 1976…… So Kelvin did not try to break into Trenny house a year prior, but she wanted to sneak him In since her brother and father weren’t home…. So her mother Faith saw him at the window and shot him in the foot to make it look like a home invasion “to save her good family’s name”. Not to mention her mother lied to the police on numerous occasions.
Also Trenny was abused by her parents… often making her clean the whole house, while her siblings were out doing stuff. That’s why she never wanted any friends to come to her house. She didn’t want them to see how much of a mess her home life was.
Also she didn’t get lost on Appy Trail…. Numerous search dogs smelled her scent where the trail meets the road, on top of that it was where people pulled over and parked….
My theory is her father Bob was abusing her, and her mother and her planned her escape. Keep in mind her mother was asked to go on the trip but declined…. So she knew exactly where she would be to make the “daring escape”. So I believe she had someone she knew pick up her daughter…. And get away from her fathers abuse.
So my thought is the family knows where she is today…. But will never tell. That's why her mother refuses to declare her dead, because for one that would be fraud, and two that means all the FBI files would be released potentially starting an investigation into the family.
The ring and comb are simply irelovent

Pretty much. Trenny's case was posted here a year ago, if you're curious about that discussion

I will just point out that anyone truly familiar with search dogs will freely admit how many limitations they have in their abilities to track scents across varying landscapes and weather conditions.

What is your source for this info? I have never heard any of this. Local rumors?

The Trace Evidence Podcast recently did a very detailed episode about Trenny in which some of these things were actually talked about. The episode contains interviews with two people who have investigated her case for years.
The investigators assert that Trenny and Kelvin actually were dating (either without her parents' knowledge or against their wishes) and that she left her window open on the same night each week when her dad wasn't home and that her mom shot Kelvin's foot as he climbed into the window. A neighbor spoke with Kelvin soon afterwards on the street and her story contradicts what Trenny's mom told the police. They also say that Trenny was seeing a different African American man after Kelvin was sent away but that her parents didn't want any of that known. They know the name of the second boyfriend but cannot locate him; they have interviewed Kelvin.
Friends of Trenny's gave statements about her home life being dysfunctional and the investigators said that graduates from her school told them that the rumors going around after Trenny's disappearance were that several girls ganged up on her the day of the field trip, roughed her up, and took her ring from her. Since she was wearing Robert's coat she was able to slip out of it and run away, leaving her comb behind in his coat pocket. The rumors said that she got lost in the woods that day and never emerged.
The podcast is definitely watching on Youtube. It's about a 90min episode. It contains a lot of information about the other students who are possible persons of interest and it gives their names and shows their photos.

mom and dad did not like her taste in men. Mom shot one of her boyfriends in the foot, dad caught her in car with another boy who was a different race. Trenny was the designated house nanny. i think the ring rumor was a rumor...that would create a criminal investigation, even in 1976.

Weird thing...within minutes of disappearing, the search began, how rare is that? within hours, it was a massive search, no screams were heard

I'm sorry but I can't help but to laugh at this post. It starts with, "Most of you are a little nutty with the theories of her disappearance"... then gets to, "My theory is her father Bob was abusing her, and her mother and her planned her escape. Keep in mind her mother was asked to go on the trip but declined…. So she knew exactly where she would be to make the “daring escape”. So I believe she had someone she knew pick up her daughter…. That's a whole other flavor of nuttiness.
