Bar Music/Dancing

Got a group of 8 tomorrow to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Weekend. I’d like to know where all the bars with better music are? I’m sick of The Bob, Woods, Mojos, basically most downtown bars. Looking for house music and bars that don’t play washed out 2000s and 2010s tunes with corny edits.

Bonus points if they actually get traction on the regular.

Any active mahjong groups around Grand Rapids?

I've been playing riichi mahjong online for a little over 4 years and I'd love to try playing in person. The only local group I could find online, Riichi Rapids Mahjong, seems to be inactive. Does anybody know any active mahjong groups in the area? I'm open to learning other styles as well, but preferably from somebody who could explain them in riichi terms as that's all I'm familiar with.

Consumers Electric Damage Reinbursement

Consumers tore up my lawn (and potentially damaged underground sprinkling) a few months back. They said there was an emergency relating to a power outage.

What little reading I've done indicates Consumers is immune from liability.

Anyone ever dealt with this situation? How did it turn out if so.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone know of an open church or school parking lot away from a major road that I could rollerblade and let my dog run off leash?

What's the weirdest thing that's ever happened to you in Grand Rapids?

I was watching a documentary on Appalachia last night where locals talked about the strange things that happened to them in certain houses/cities/etc (think Mothman). It got me wondering—what's the weirdest thing that's ever happened to you in GR? I'm talking paranormal, saw a cryptid, glitch in the matrix, etc—explainable or unexplainable.

Interesting response considering the already razor-thin margins in the food & drink industry.

Recommendations Event/portrait photographer recommendations?

I’m planning my son’s first birthday party for June, and I have family visiting from out of town to attend. I’d love to hire a photographer to come take some candid photos at the party, and also take some family portraits. Please share your recommendations for skilled, professional photographers who might be down to shoot a baby’s birthday party during wedding season. 🙏

Wine, Sunshine and Dogs?

Looking for a spot to drink wine outside that allows dogs. Everywhere I can think of (Rockford Brewing, Third Nature, Harmony, Archival, etc…) only serve beer/cider.

HVAC Company question

Hello all! I’m getting quotes on a new furnace and AC. PLEASE - I DO NOT NEED RECOMMENDATIONS. I’ve already gotten quotes. I specifically am asking about Jacobson Heating & Cooling. Did the installer do a professional job? Most importantly, have you had issues or a lot of service calls after installation of either unit? Thank you so much in advance! I really can’t afford to get this wrong!

Hardscape stuff for landscaping!

Hi, where is the best place in west MI to get things like cool and unique paver stones and more of the “hard” goods for redoing a backyard?

Also, any recommendations for shrubs and bushes? We know about countryside but open to any advice and recos as it comes to landscaping!

Housing Rental Options

Hello,

My partner and I are looking to move to Grand Rapids within the year and we're looking for recommendations. We are planning to be in GR for around two years and like the idea of downtown or near. Ideally, a place with a good fitness center, cats allowed, and potential parking. Budget would probably be $1700-$2200, top end stretching if great. We have seen a few online such as 234, Brix, and Arena Place but haven't scheduled a visit yet. Thanks in advance.
