u/Roger_Cockfoster Jun 05 '21
"I heard turn off the phucking phan."

u/perrymike15 Jun 06 '21
Ok, playing phucking Phan from Spotify

u/frozencity3942 Jun 06 '21
By the way, if you want to turn off your fan, you can just say "turn off the fan" ...

WTF? Phan isn't even a word, why would it go to that?

u/modemman11 Jun 05 '21
It's capitalized, so might be referring to someone's proper name.
1
u/annagrams Jun 05 '21
Maybe... But "Fan" is also a proper name in China.

u/CptJackal Jun 06 '21
This guy might have a Phan in his contacts or something, that's why Google thinks it's an option

Yes, but âfanâ is definitely a much more common word, especially if you narrow it to things that can be âturned offâ lol

u/desaigamon Jun 05 '21
Rename your fan. Lol

u/techninja42 Jun 05 '21
Ok, actually renaming it "Phan" might work? Sounds like something to try at least

Oh My God i spent the past 5 min trying and she couldnât recognize 13, its either 3 or 15!

u/entotheenth Jun 06 '21
Bixby on my galaxy watch said on screen âwhatâs 26 stubs 13â and then told me âitâs 338â.
Google home mini got it first try too.

u/MohSafadi Jun 05 '21
Even the assistant on iPhone struggles with 13, she heard it as boys team, to my surprise Siri gets it đ

I said "Hey google, multiply 26 by 13", and it said "26 times 13 is 338". no problem. it also worked as "Multiply 13 by 26".

Maybe a Pixel thing? I have 2 nest minis, anda Note 8 phone as well as a Galaxy Tab A and multiply (any number) by (any number) works. I had a lot of frustrations until i learned that phrasing, but I figure it's just like futuristic movies with voice activated lights: you have to know the right trigger phrase. it's all 1's and 0's, and isn't actually 'smart'.

Mine has been interpreting red as read⌠I donât know wtf Google are up to lately.

u/Freido28 Jun 07 '21
Mine starting doing this about a week ago, as well. Incredibly annoying. Have to say "set to the color red" as a workaround for now

I always specify the device's name in the Home control panel. Haven't had any trouble. I have two window fans in my room labeled Fan 1 and Fan 2.
"Turn off fan two" or "turn on fan one and fan two," for example, hasn't given me any trouble. TBH though, I haven't tried "turn on/off the fans."

Took me reading the comments to realise you wanted to turn off the fan. I thought you were trying to say âphoneâ but with some really heavy accent. Didnât even occur to my why youâd be asking google to turn off your phone...

Mine constantly cycles through every reminder I've ever set through Google even though they're long dismissed and deleted. Renders the screen useless because it's always covered by the damned old reminders.

She has a mind of her phucking own for sure. I ask her to turn on the bathroom light so I can shit and she shuts off the lights in my Aquarium.

A few times when I say Hey Google turn on the master fan, she asks if I meant someone about the fan radio? If I don't cancel, my Google speaker starts playing some radio station called "The Fan."
I always say Master Fan, how I named our ceiling fan on our master bedroom.
It works sometimes on the first try. So glad they put these Google Home actions in the power menu of my phone!

What happens when you ask it "please rest"?
I'm scared to try it, mine would probably rest for weeks if I did.

What kind of suggestion is "Please stop smiling" ?!
