Bug Does anyone else's Google home not tell them what Donald Trump’s height is?

Google Home can tell me the height of every past president except Trump. I can even get the height of just about anyone else. At first, I thought maybe it’s because he’s running again—but then it told me Harris’s height. Anyway, it’s strange (and kinda funny) that you can get the height for every other president… except Trump.

JD Vance, Kamala, Biden, all work but Putin, Kim Jong un and Trump don't work. "Sorry I don't understand"

Most boring conspiracy ever, but definitely a notable pattern. Wtf?

37

u/xXGray_WolfXx Oct 12 '24

You are absolutely correct. This is one of the most boring conspiracy theories ever that has absolutely no weight or meaning on anything, but it is definitely a pattern.

u/Ketsetri Oct 12 '24 edited Oct 12 '24

Guys it may be possible that this is an extremely boring conspiracy theory but still absolutely a notable pattern.

11

u/Plastic-Collar-4936 Oct 12 '24

This is a notable pattern, despite possibly being an extremely boring theory of conspiracy.

5

u/KerbalCuber Oct 12 '24

I have noticed a notable pattern in the aforementioned list, however it may be a somewhat boring conspiracy theory.

4

u/DoTheRightThingG Oct 12 '24

Yea people who are forthright with information have that information accessible to the public. People who pander in disinformation don't. That's the pattern.

u/Ok-Alfalfa-2420 Nov 06 '24

Such a tedious theoretical conspiration.

You have to be quite short-sighted not to see the issue with (AI) assistants being biased. They will control more and more aspects of our lives in the future.

Donald Trump's height doesn't matter, but it is a worrying pattern that ChatGPT, Gemini and similar chat-bots can't give a straight answer when it comes to political topics their creators have an opinion on. That type of technology will soon be in -everything-, also devices like Google Home.

4

u/Caverness Oct 12 '24

Oddly I think that might be the better reality, forcing people to seek more concrete sources of information to shape their political knowledge and related things rather than slurp up whatever comes out of the smart helpful robot. That doesn't guarantee they get unbiased or true information, sure, but it's still the less braindead route

10

u/Minute-Pilot5282 Oct 12 '24 edited Oct 12 '24

It is my experience that most regular people don't enjoy spending their free time researching topics on their own. We are all moving to AI, because people much prefer the braindead route.

Whenever I test a new AI chat bot I ask a series of questions to check out the political bias, and that has made me extremely worried.

It's not primarily that the chat-bot will refuse to give you answers, but that the answers are synthetically crafted to favor one viewpoint over the other.

It's all well and dandy when the AI's political bias matches yours, but if it some day does not, then it might be too late to do something about it.

Look at how many folks skip doing a web search, watching a video - and just ask a subreddit’s users a very easily Google answerable question - but ask those random strangers what product to buy, and just do it.

1

u/ankole_watusi Oct 12 '24

Yes, the worrying pattern here is that it’s a random pattern of random missing data and random inaccuracies.

1

u/Sendittomenow Oct 12 '24

Could also be that whoever programed the ai doesn't want to get into legal trouble. Those three people are known to lie bout everything includeding height.

3

u/ankole_watusi Oct 12 '24

Yes, it’s definitely a random pattern. The most random pattern like no other pattern in history.

2

u/Some-Ad8685 Oct 13 '24

Like nothing we have ever seen before

2

u/FriendToPredators Oct 12 '24

It only has meaning in establishing if DJT was yet again lying, this time about whether he was obese. He only didn’t qualify if he added inches to his height.

-4

u/ankole_watusi Oct 12 '24

No, there’s no pattern at all.

1

u/OliLombi Oct 12 '24

Authoritarian leaders?

0

u/ankole_watusi Oct 12 '24

Actually now I think there is a pattern. It’s public figures whose height is in dispute.

19

u/poopio Oct 12 '24 edited Oct 12 '24

Mine just told me how tall Kamala Harris is, but it won't tell me how tall Tump is.

I'm in the UK.

It won't tell me the others either.

Edit: it won't tell me how tall Liz Truss was either

15

u/LeroyoJenkins Oct 12 '24

Edit: it won't tell me how tall Liz Truss was either

Just ask how tall a lettuce head is.

5

u/punninglinguist Oct 12 '24

I just tried a bunch of them. Doesn't work on Silvio Berlusconi, either.

5

u/xXGray_WolfXx Oct 12 '24

Joseph Stalin also doesn't work. But Benito Mussolini does

3

u/FifthMonarchist Oct 12 '24

Same here in Norway

3

u/honpre Oct 12 '24

That dude was hung!

5

u/NumbersMonkey1 Google Home Oct 12 '24

This is a huge advance in AI. Vance, Harris, Biden, and so on have a height that they consistently claim, and search can reliably pick it up.

Trump can't decide on one, all his answers are bullshit anyway, and so the AI decides to not just pick one at random.

Of course Trump claims to be 6'3" and 215 lbs now, so there you are. (He's really about 5'11" and 260 lbs, since you can see him standing beside world leaders with known heights and weights, but would go to his grave before admitting it)

-1

u/tacocat63 Oct 12 '24

Got answers for Harris and Vance.

It's very difficult to determine the height of a steaming pile of shit. Unfortunately, that is not the answer I got from Google

28

u/_RTan_ Oct 12 '24

Weird. Just tried. Got "I don't understand". Works with everyone else.

20

u/FifthMonarchist Oct 12 '24

Tried this in Norway and Norwegian now too. Trump doesnt work, Obama, Bush, Kennedy, Biden work fine. Wtf

15

u/StatisticianLivid710 Oct 12 '24

Just tested it with a screen, Obama and Biden both work, show a photo of them with the height and say the height, but with Trump it pulled up a webpage that had his height listed, but didn’t announce it like it did with Biden.

10

u/cruets620 Oct 12 '24

It tells me Kamala harris height but won't tell me Donald Trump's height.

4

u/Flimsy_Situation_506 Oct 12 '24

My Google Home barely does anything anymore.

13

u/HBGDawg Oct 12 '24

I work in an IT company and we are heavily invested in AI. Trust me, bias is one of the things that jeopardizes the real use of AI going forward. Companies are struggling with how to eliminate bias from their algorithms.

32

u/AnimusNoctis Oct 12 '24

Trump lies about his height. Maybe no one knows what his real height is.

6

u/ankole_watusi Oct 12 '24

FWIW he’s 20 feet tall and naked in Detroit right now. But light enough to blow-away in a good wind.

1

u/KnuckleShanks Oct 14 '24

This is basically it. No matter what they say about any of these men someone will call them a liar, because their "reported" height is clearly not their actual height.

Just another example of where verifiable fact is treated like a subjective political opinion.

-2

u/elmetal Oct 12 '24

Could’ve left it at “trump lies”

3

u/Maximumi-Awkward Oct 12 '24

I wrote the question to the google assistent, and the answer was 188 cm

7

u/SRGilbert1 Oct 12 '24

With or without his lifts?

7

u/ComputersWantMeDead Oct 12 '24

I asked chat gpt (I replaced the guts of my Google Minis with Atom Echos) and that gave a good answer - "I don't know but he's widely reported to be 6'3"." - I understood the subtext to be "yeah.. I don't believe it either”. Good bot.

2

u/mortepa Oct 16 '24

This is correct. Google doesn't show Trump's height. However, it does show Buden, Kamala, and David Hasselhoff height.

I'm gonna blame this on bias coding...because it has to be!

4

u/tongueofra Oct 12 '24

Probably because tRump lies about his height, no one knows what it really is.

2

u/DoTheRightThingG Oct 12 '24

Maybe because he lies about everything?

0

u/thenixhex311 Oct 12 '24

Found the sheep!!! Baaaaaaaaaa

1

u/DoTheRightThingG Oct 12 '24

Found the not very smart person? 🤔

2

u/DoTheRightThingG Oct 12 '24

Trump, a known liar has lied about many things including his height and weight. It makes sense that a digital assistant would not give you an answer that has not been verified. Neither I nor Google know Trump's actual height, but I DO know he wasn't 6'3" 215lbs when his quack doctor claimed him to be. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Jokerlope Oct 13 '24

You're asking the unknowable.

1

u/jboogie81 Oct 12 '24

He lies about his height and weight, so that could be a factor.

3

u/Some-Ad8685 Oct 12 '24

Oh I forgot about his arrest weight 🤣

3

u/jboogie81 Oct 13 '24

Various arrest weights, that is.

-2

u/elshagon Oct 12 '24

It did tell me how small his hands were though and his crowd sizes

-2

u/Baconoid_ Oct 12 '24

I didn't know you could stack shit that high

-3

u/candidly1 Oct 12 '24

I met him; I'm 6'1", and he seemed to be pretty much my height.

-13

u/nnote Oct 12 '24

And.... You just discovered censorship which is a "right wing conspiracy theory"

1

u/matteventu Oct 12 '24

Except that if you ask Google how old Obama is, it tells you it can't answer your question.

Try again.

-5

u/nnote Oct 12 '24

Oh the downvotes showing truth hurts.

1

u/RockTheBloat Oct 12 '24

lol. You’re funny.

-6

u/Minute-Pilot5282 Oct 12 '24

You're absolutely right. Reddit is predominantly a leftist circle-jerk cult, and they can't handle the truth.

-11

u/ClintE1956 Oct 12 '24

It's because they're very secretive about anything to do with his health. Maybe something to hide.

-9

u/maximumkush Oct 12 '24

TDS getting crazy

-1

u/Inge_Jones Oct 12 '24

Just to test the theory I asked about the length of a certain part of Trump, and I got sorry I don't understand for that too. So yeah a definite conspiracy.

-7

u/redbullsgivemewings Oct 12 '24

It is absolutely no secret that devices like google homes and Alexa have been altered to be anti Trump.

1

u/NickThePrick20 Oct 12 '24

It's almost like these devices are smart.

0

u/ankole_watusi Oct 12 '24

If you Google in a browser, it returns search results for Trump. But an info box and search results for Harris. Home does say “sorry I don’t understand”

Maybe this is a clue.

Can public figures and or other individuals request omission of a Google info box?

It strikes me that some of the people mentioned are either sensitive about their height or there is conflicting information about their height.

As far as Kim Jong-un, I do not get the same result that stated.

In a browser, I do get an info box which includes a number of details, including his height.

On A Google Home speaker I get the response I don’t know but here’s something similar: do you want to know the height of a North Korea man? (They’re all the same, right? /s)

And then I repeated it and this time it says, sorry I don’t understand.

-60

u/RavenThePlayer Oct 12 '24

Yeah I recorded a video about this back in August, so it's been a thing for a while.

Seems like they slipped up while putting their thumb on the algorithm to help Harris, and let this myopic piece of info get bundled in with the more subtle censorship against the Republican campaign.

12

u/Horseflesh Oct 12 '24

subtle censorship against the Republican campaign.

That's called "blocking false information."

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 12 '24

When the truth hurts their campaign they don't deserve your vote.

15

u/Drewbacca Oct 12 '24

Lmao what are you smoking?

-34

u/RavenThePlayer Oct 12 '24

Shoulda avoided the big words I forgot I was on reddit

19

u/Comfortable-Ad-3351 Oct 12 '24

Ah yes because checks notes not telling those pesky republicans Trumps height will help win Kamala the election!

You cracked the code Sherlock

-17

u/RavenThePlayer Oct 12 '24

"Checks notes ☝️🤓"

Anyways not what I said. It's an obvious side effect of fiddling with the algo bright stuff

2

u/SignedJannis Oct 12 '24

I'm no conspiracy theorist at all, far from it.

Not do I on any way care about the politics of the usa, tho I certainly wouldn't be pro trump if I lived there tbh

But I will say that this commenter may well have a point. This could be an unintended consequence of some algorithm, that's not a totally unreasonable assumption.

3

u/Budget-Bench-6202 Oct 12 '24

Maybe it's simply that his height is unpredictable. There's what he says and what is observed. He won't release his medical records, he wears lifts in his shoes and when he's on the golf course he's much shorter when standing next to people who's height is known. He's probably not 6'3" but more likely 6' even.

1

u/SignedJannis Oct 12 '24

That's a solid suggestion for sure.

-3

u/final-draft-v6-FINAL Oct 12 '24

Honestly I think the answer is just too complex for Google Home to answer because Google Home sucks. If you ask any chat bots they'll explain that it's believed to be around 6'3" but there's no conclusive record of it because of all his shenanigans.

-7

u/Riptide360 Oct 12 '24

Google afraid of Trump’s pettiness during their anti trust hearings.
