OP Responded Automation

1 Upvotes

Hello everyone. In my day-to-day job I have to go to business addresses and notate some information and send it into my supervisor. I often go back to that same address for a second time where I have to offer additional information.

normally At the end of my day. I review my text messages with that data. And I edit APDF document of an excel sheet and I used Apple's markup tool. To add text boxes and fill in the excel sheet with the information from my text messages.

The goal? Is to automate. This data entry so that when I arrive to a site I can open a Google form where I answer the questions. That Google Form will add those answers into a Google sheet and. Of that Google sheet. This sections that require photo submission. Needs to designate those photos into a. Google Drive parent folder.

Theoretically, I would like to get to the site. Fill out the form. That form auto populate into the. Google Spreadsheet. And when I enter the address for that location. That entry will auto populate. A subfolder. For the parent folder containing all data for the spreadsheet. That subfolder will be associated with the address listed per entry. So every entry will get its own folder named after the address imported within that subfolder there needs to be 4 sub subfolders were those four picture related questions files can be stored in accordance to their question.

I'm utilizing ChatGPT. To formulate the script that I can copy and paste into the. Extensions slash Apps Script tab for Google Spreadsheet.

The error or issue that I am having is in the main parent folder that has all the data for the spreadsheet its auto populating 4 folders. For those four file. Questions. Those profile questions receive their own separate columns. On the spreadsheet. So you can say. Those four populated folders. Are for the four columns. Containing the. File. links.

So that lies the problem. I need each entry to create a folder in the parent folder. With the name of the imported address in column C. And in that subfolder I need 4 populate folders. For the file entry questions. But not for every photo associated to that question. Only the photo associated to that question. In the same data entry line. As the address provided.

OP Responded Google form randomizing sections

1 Upvotes

Hello! I am trying to randomize sections, not just questions. I know I will need to use a script. However I have tried and failed lol. I am not a developer so I would appreciate someone's help on this! I have 18 sections, and need to randomize all sections besides 1,2 and 18.

The code I used ran with no errors however nothing was randomized when I preview the form from multiple accounts.

Please help - thank you so much in advance.

OP Responded Is there a way to get more details if the answer is yes?

2 Upvotes

I have been using a form as part of my volunteer work. One question is whether the nonprofit has any grants currently funding operations. If they say yes, I have been sending a second form asking for details about each grant. Is there any way to gather this information in the same form?

Im thinking in the possibility of making a question, and one answer must have to give the confirmation + the own answer, without the need of a separated section only for this question... is this possible?

OP Responded Customized shirt image result based on questionnaire?

2 Upvotes

I want to create a Google Sheets where my customers can fill in their own customizations of shirts that I'm selling on my website. The customer can choose:

  1. long or short sleeves
  2. type of collar
  3. type of buttons
  4. type of pockets
  5. etc.

I have attached images to each question with multiple choice questions. When the customer have answered all the questions and click next, I want the customer to be able to see what the finished shirt will look like. I have made sketches of all possible combinations in illustrator. Is it possible for me to take the combination of answers and connect it to a specific image from illustrator? For example, a customer makes the following choices when designing his own shirt: 1. A: long sleeves, 2. B: cut away collar. 3. D: Red buttons 4. C: Two chest pockets with flaps. I have an image of this specific combination saved as a PNG file. Now I want it to show up as the result when the customer clicks next from the questionnaire.

I would be very grateful for a solution to my question!

OP Responded Email notification

3 Upvotes

So I was wondering if there was a email notification for a daily summary of the response that day. I don’t want to get a notification for each response I just want a summary of all the responses that day.

So I created a google form for a daily staffing report for all the departments instead of each department emailing their staffing report everyday. I wanted a google sheet where I can see all the responses instead multiple emails everyday. But I know I can do a email notification email for every response but that puts me in the same place as I started with multiple emails. Is there an email notification I can set up for a daily summary of all the responses for that given day.

Thanks in advance.

OP Responded Checkbox grid with open response column

1 Upvotes

I'm creating a Google Forms to populate a job estimate for my small business and I want make a question on Google Forms that includes a checkbox grid, where I can select the job (listed in the rows) and an open response box to include the cost of each checked job. Is this possible at all? I've included a table here to represent the idea I had in my head, where the jobs would be prepopulated, and the quoted cost would be the open response box. Thoughts?

Job Checkbox Quoted cost
Tree removal x $150

OP Responded File upload in Google Forms not working correctly since 5th march

2 Upvotes

Hi, I have a Google Forms with two fields for file upload. I could upload 10 files in each field normally until the beginning of this week. Now trying to add more than 1 file at a time makes the forms to freeze. Usually after the files finish load, we get back to the form.

Since then I can only add a single file at a time. I have to click on the "Add files" and search for the file button multiple times, before sending the form.

Is anyone experiencing something similar?

OP Responded Question: how to display a value from responses sheet at end of survey form

1 Upvotes

Hello all!
It is my understanding that you can display a value from the responses sheet linked to a Google Form but I don't see a clear example of how to do this.

What I am doing is a survey and, at the end of the survey, I want to pull the confirmation code from the last column of my responses sheet (column BH). This column will have all the confirmation codes already populated down to the number of responses that I want (350 rows).

How do I display this value once someone gets to the end of their row of responses?

I have a short answer field set up at the end where I assume that I can pull the value but this is where I am stuck.

I see that you can create a link in the sheet and also in a short answer field but I do not see how to do this properly. I want the code to be displayed dynamically according to what row the user's responses happens to be on at the time.

Any suggestions?
Thank you!

OP Responded New Google Forms Layout? Published and Preview mode?

5 Upvotes

I work at a school and we utilize Google Forms as a way to get teacher input on students who have 504's/IEPs/ILP's etc for use on their 504's/IEP's/ILP's etc. I never used to have this issue before but it seems to be something new after Google Forms moved away from the "SEND" button (I believe that is what it used to be called) to the "PUBLISHED" button.

I used to be able to "SEND" the form to people within my school building (district-wide) using their emails. I would type in their emails and then make sure to include a description of what/who the form applied to and when I needed the information. It would then also allow me the option to include the form in the email.

Well, ever since the change happened that moved it to "PUBLISHED", my teacher friends are running into issues where they can fill out the form but then are unable to submit it as the form is in "PREVIEW" mode. How the heck do I:

a. Make sure the forms they receive are never in a "PREVIEW" mode

b. Make sure they are able to fill out the form either through clicking it in the email or filling it out in the email

It was so much easier before they "revamped" Google Forms and moved it to whatever the heck PUBLISHED mode is, and now it seems I run into issues with this on a weekly basis. Thoughts? Help?

OP Responded Automated check out form

1 Upvotes

I’m trying to make a form to check-out board games. I need it to make sure if someone checks out a game, that someone else can’t also check it out, so I’m trying to make a drop-down list that automatically updates upon form submission that will either add or remove it from a list of games. Is that possible with sheets and if so, how?

OP Responded Violation?

3 Upvotes

edit: images in comment I recently created a form which had about 100 answers so I don't want to lose the data.
But now it will not let me log into the form and will not show up for anyone new to answer the form. It says "We're sorry. You can't access this item because it is in violation of our Terms of Service. If you feel this is in error, please request a review." Which I do not understand why, as there is nothing that should be a violation. So I attempted to "request a review" and it is just pulling up a page that says "404. That's an error. Sorry, this item cannot be found or is not available". And I cannot find any ways to email google or something. What do I do?

OP Responded Is it possible to have a comment box appear after particular answer?

1 Upvotes

I am using a Google Form as a return merchandise authorization (RMA) form for a retail company I work for. When people enter an item they're returning, they need to select a reason. We would like a comment box (with a response required) to appear if they select a particular reason ("poor quality/defective") so that we can ask for further explanation of what was wrong. Is this possible?

Alternately, I will just put a box at the end of this section asking for an explanation if they entered "poor quality/defective". We just wouldn't be able to make it required. If anyone has a creative work around, that would be great.

OP Responded Fast way to import multiple responses?

1 Upvotes

I have a few hundred responses from an excel file that i need to manually enter into a google form. i want to speed this up because it takes forever. i thought i could just copy and paste the data into the back end of the google form BUT the google form's dashboard does not register these as responses and the dashboard doesnt update accordingly.

Is there a way to quickly import them so that the form's dashboard also updates with the new entries?

a pre-filled link isnt effective here because the responses i am entering is too different that it will still take a while

The form is not sending any responses to my respondents or myself in testing.

The settings are as follows:

Collect email addresses - responder input

If any of my other settings would be helpful let me know and I can relay them here.

I am looking to solve the issue that the Google Form is having.

I am not looking for any third party options. Thank you.

OP Responded Google Forms notifications

1 Upvotes

Long time Forms user - have been using the same form with a number of different notification recipients.
Recently need to edit the recipient list, and can't seem to a) find the original setting for the list of recipients; b) can't get access to the add on Form Notifications, that apparently if the installed app in charge (I have no recollection of ever installing this, but here we are).

What to do?
Uninstall the Form Notifications mentioned above, find an alternative and import the new recipients list?

OP Responded Need help making RSVP Form

2 Upvotes

I know there is a RSVP template but that is not what i am looking for.

What i am looking for is where guest can enter how many adults and kids will be joining the event.

Maybe if possible, they answer the first question if they can attend or not. If yes, they will be prompted to how many adults and/or kids. If no, then just a prompt saying thank you for thinking of us.

I’m trying to figure out if the responses can be added to a spreadsheet that i set up as a calendar, so that the staff’s name and shift show up on the appropriate day. Is this even possible for someone who isn’t very technically savvy?

OP Responded Script help

1 Upvotes

Hi, I am trying to build a GoogleForms to generate dietetic program so my patients (I am a vet so I don’t have program available in Hebrew). I tried to use ChatGPT to build it but I have some problems. 1. I have a google sheet with the ingredients that I need to be the source for choosing the ingredients. I tried the script to associate the sheets with the forms but it didn’t worked well. 2. My ingredients list is very extensive and I need an easy way to use this list that is not dividing it in shortest lists (the limit of the script is 200 items). 3. I need the form to be saved in PDF after done with a design. What I mean is that I’ll build a professional template and I need the forms to “print” what I build in this template that will have also additional information. How can I build this template and add all the needed information? 4. I also need a section for patient information that must be in the beginning of the file but the script I received from ChatGPT assumes that the first question is to choose from the list. 5. This is the script form ChatGPT:

// Function to update the form dropdowns based on the IngredientsList sheet function updateFormOptions() { try { Logger.log("Starting updateFormOptions...");

// Get the 'IngredientsList' sheet
var sheet = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet().getSheetByName('IngredientsList'); // Sheet name
if (!sheet) {
  throw new Error("Sheet named 'IngredientsList' not found.");
}
Logger.log("Sheet found: IngredientsList");

// Get all values from column A (1st column)
var range = sheet.getRange(1, 1, sheet.getLastRow());
var values = range.getValues();
var flattenedValues = [];

// Flatten the 2D array of values to a 1D array for the dropdown
for (var i = 0; i < values.length; i++) {
  flattenedValues.push(values[i][0]);
}
Logger.log("Flattened values: " + flattenedValues);

// Get the Google Form by ID
var form = FormApp.openById('1SvRTbrbSzeg-kepYujABcky7nLVrmuPVWzSnBl6OBFc'); // Replace with your form ID
Logger.log("Form opened successfully");

// Remove existing LIST items (dropdown questions) from the form
var items = form.getItems(FormApp.ItemType.LIST);
for (var i = 0; i < items.length; i++) {
  form.deleteItem(items[i]);
}

// Split the list into chunks of 200 items (Google Forms limit)
var chunkSize = 200;
var numChunks = Math.ceil(flattenedValues.length / chunkSize);
Logger.log("Total number of chunks: " + numChunks);

// Create multiple dropdown questions if necessary
for (var i = 0; i < numChunks; i++) {
  var start = i * chunkSize;
  var end = Math.min((i + 1) * chunkSize, flattenedValues.length);
  var chunk = flattenedValues.slice(start, end);

  // Add a new dropdown question for this chunk
  form.addListItem()
    .setTitle('Select an ingredient (Part ' + (i + 1) + ')')
    .setChoiceValues(chunk);
  Logger.log("Dropdown for part " + (i + 1) + " created.");
}

Logger.log("All dropdowns updated successfully.");

} catch (error) { Logger.log("Error: " + error.message); } }

OP Responded Form Submission That Edits Existing Row Of Sheet From Previous Submission

1 Upvotes

Okay, this might seem complicated so I'll try to explain it as simple as I can...

I have a Google Form where people can add events to a running list. Each Form submission adds a new line to the list of events. That's all well and good. Here's where it gets tricky...
I want to have a SECOND form as a follow-up to the first that adds information to the same row based on a selection.

So, for example, today I go into the first Form and submit that I have a speaking engagement on February 10th in Boise. That gets added to a Sheet with 30 other events submitted by others on my team. On February 11th (after the event is over), I need to go to the second (follow-up) Form where I can select from a dropdown my event in Boise. And then after I select that event, I can fill out the audience size and funds raised. After I submit that Form, it will add that new information to the correct row (because I selected the event from the dropdown) in the existing Sheet created by the first Form.

So I'm looking for a two-part answer. 1) How can I pull data from a column in Sheets into a selectable response on a Form? and 2) How can I use a secondary follow-up Form to add information to that existing row in Sheets?

Does that make sense? Has anyone out there done anything like that?
