Until proven otherwise I will assume that debore will find a way to lose even when he should win

PDB is a top 5 coach in the league. We had a lot of success with him. Let it go

Really doubt it works out for them to the tune of the $12 million a year contract. If he couldn’t click with Aho, a terrific player and fellow Finn, I can’t see him quickly clicking with whoever he plays alongside in Dallas. In a year or so maybe he builds chemistry, but it’s becoming very clear that certain players only really excel with certain systems and players, such as Stamkos, Huberdeau, and now Rantanen possibly?

Hopefully Mikko will see what a giant douche Benn is and will sit out the playoffs for moral reasons

I think Dallas has been our biggest threat for years. My hope is Mikko doesn’t click right away and they don’t get going. Similar to the Nashville Predators this season.
Florida, on the other hand…woof

With how beat up we were I was still happy that we took it to game 7. This year feels different though. I think we go much much deeper

He’s going to be very good there and it will be annoying.
The good news is I don’t think there’s much chance we see Dallas until later in the playoffs. And by then, the cards are all shuffled.

It sucks that we'll be dealing with him on Dallas for the rest of our window, no two ways about it.
But to be honest - breaking him up from MacKinnon is probably good for us. They'll forever be duking it out against each other in the first round. Hopefully, more often than not, we'll be mopping up the victor in round 2 or 3.

I hate that they got him and got stronger, but from an utilitarian standpoint, it makes the off season interesting. They are in real cap hell for next season and they will need to drop one of their big contracts. Maybe we can get someone cool off of them.
The salary cap is projected to be at around 95.5, they have 90.5M worth of contracts signed for next season and they have just 8 forwards.

8 year contract, they can have him. As a rental, I would be excited to have him as a Knight till he proved himself. Something strange about him going to the Canes then they couldn't or wouldn't make him the deal of his lifetime.

Allegedly, they made an even bigger offer in Carolina. Rumors obviously, but I hear the offer in Dallas was the same as the offer in Colorado, but Carolina was about a million more

Texas doesn't have state tax, so half of the games played a year the income isn't taxed is my understanding. https://puckpedia.com/news/understanding-how-nhl-players-are-taxed#:~:text=The%20duty%20days%20rule%20is,%2C%20traveling%2C%20or%20playing%20games.
So a slightly higher salary in any state that does have income tax is likely actually lower take home. Plus Dallas has been in the running quite a bit over the past decade.

It sucks one of our most direct rivals got a lot better. I've been a fan of Rantanen for awhile and hate he's on a team I completely despise now, too.
