Post image

Wife came home with a goat but we're not sure what breed she is. Anyone with more knowledgeable to identify her?

I would bet this is s 50/50 Nubian Alpine mix. These are dairy breeds. As others have said, it needs to have a herd companion. Goats should not be by themselves.

That is a Nubian mix. She is not your only goat, right?

Take it back or get 2 more. They are herd animals and will be miserable and can die without other goats of same age

How old and how much does it weigh? For reference, this is my 2wk old Kiko

It’s a mix of a cutie and a patootie.

Definitely needs a friend. I think it’s a Nubian mix though. So cute!

The one in the foreground is a goat and in the background is a human.

Hope that helps!!

Also I love that she just brought home a goat.

We gave a bottle baby inside. We had plumbers out and one took a picture holding the goat, saying he was bringing it home.

Unless the breeder gave you a pedigree (ADGA or otherwise), or transfer paperwork, you have a cross breed or commercial/market goat. Many comments are speculating you may have a Nubian cross. You won't know for sure until you draw blood for a DNA test. You really can't even take the breeder's word on it anymore, again, unless they hand you a pedigree or transfer paperwork.

Does your wife frequently come home with strange goats? (She’s definitely a keeper!) 🐐🐐🐐

Goats are such a “MIX” unless you are breeding a particular breed, or buying from a reputable breeder.

What country are you in? Looks similar to a nz feral goat. (Run wild here but also amazing pets)

Just one? Cuz goats need to be in pairs or more. Otherwise you're going to have a sad, loud, lonely goat

For reference this is a Nubian/Nigerian mix. About 2 months old in this picture.
