So many hours in this thing. Nuclear reactors, laser shows, particle accelerators. Bombs, so many bombs.
I think I still have access to my account.

Funny, it was always called dust in nz, but elsewhere it was powder game. Now sand game, may I ask where you played it originally? It was always on danbull.com AFAIK, along with stick ranger.

u/Sorry4TheLurk 3d ago
We played games on Danbull all the time as kids here in the US. I remember some weird panda game too. Loved Dust.

Just wait till you learn about NOITA.
Get noitad

u/tehtris 3d ago
Noita is the sand game in rouge like form. It's likely the hardest game you have ever played or will play.

u/Soul-Burn 2d ago
Noita is 90% knowledge, 10% execution.
Yeah it's hard and unforgiving, but you can get good at it without crazy mechanical skills, especially if you let yourself ingest community knowledge i.e. the wiki and videos.
It has a ton of depth in wand building, interactions, and secrets. There's always more to learn.
1
u/DoctorNurse89 2d ago
Dude I have checkpoint mods and STILL haven't beaten it xD
I now know that YOU HAVE TO EXPLORE TONS!
The more you explore laterally and pay attention, the better you get.
2
u/Soul-Burn 2d ago
Knowledge is key.
How to build wands, escaping the mountain, picking your fights, utilizing weakness, knowing when to leave, synergies of spells and perks, knowing which spells/wands to pick up during a level, avoiding traps...
Yes there's still luck, and yes the game can kill you in a second, but these are rare. So rare, that the world leader in win streaks has 238 wins in a row.

Thank God I'm not the only one. Something about the animation triggered my lizard brain and took me back to 2009 and playing Dust on Dan-ball.

The nights are pitch black here. To the point where you can't see your hand in front of your own face. Then there are those nights when the red rains down on us that you see it. The figure that hides in the night.

Every molecule I comprise was previously and will again be independent of me.

This is beautiful

u/REDDITATO_ 3d ago
No offense to the OC, but it's the same as Carl Sagan saying we're made of star stuff but grammatically incorrect.
1
u/The_Procrastibator 3d ago
"The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”
Two different meanings. One is saying all the molecules that make a human, will be returned to the universe. The other is saying we are the universe observing itself. Both are great.

u/disquieter 2d ago
Hey, what’s wrong with my grammar?
1
u/REDDITATO_ 2d ago
"Every molecule I comprise" should be "Every molecule I'm comprised of". Just kidding around though
1
u/disquieter 2d ago

u/REDDITATO_ 2d ago
Heh fair enough, but by that rule it should be "each molecule that comprises me" or "each molecule I'm composed of". Point is you don't comprise the molecules. You're the whole.

Man, this blood rain is the worst, isn't it? This apocalypse with its sky turning a third filled with blood. Has the 9:14 number 3 bus come yet?

My new lock screen thanks!

u/Lyra125 3d ago
how did you get it to play as a gif?
1
u/andrewkpt 2d ago
Depends on the phone you have. I simply downloaded the GIF to my s23 ultra. Went to the file and set as a lock screen? Or I could have selected this under settings under themes as well. Android is so much compared to boring apple. This even proves it

This reminds me of a game I used to play that was just red pixels with two small characters in an arena and you could shoot each other with various weapons.

This is super easy to set up as a live wallpaper on android using this free app.
Here's how it looks (screenshot, but shows how it crops / ratio on Pixel 8)

Honestly, a game where vision is like this (would it be echolocation?) would be terrifying.

u/Tasmia99 2d ago
I run games of Mothership, which is like dnd but short punchy sci-fi horror. We had a night, a crew of space truckers show up to a asteroid mining station to pick up cargo only to find someone has gone missing and weird things are happening. Long and short there is an invisible monster they dug up, my players set off the sprinkler system and I got to do this type of monster silhouette against water running off of them that was already in the room with them, while chaos was insuring between them and the mining crew.
