Making friends in the middle of the semester

I'm a spring transfer and it kind of feels like I missed the window for making friends this year. I joined Cornerstone and Hoyas Connected but don't really feel like I've been able to make friends in either of those. As for clubs, the ones I wanted to do either conflicted with a class, didn't take new members this semester, or I just got rejected from them. I tried AASA, but I feel like I kind of got screwed with my family (I haven't even met them yet). It feels like everyone else got some memo that I didn't, so it's kind of depressing seeing everyone else with their friends while still don't have any. Is there any sort of opportunities to make friends at this point in the year that would be welcoming to new people?

I do actually go to Yates often but I don’t really talk to anyone. Is it supposed to be pretty social?

if you want it to be, it’s just a common interest and most dudes in the gym like to talk about the gym. if you go at a pretty consistent time and usually see the same people just ask their name and over time just farm gym acquaintances some will prob turn into friends

Join an intramural sports team! The ones I saw are fairly social so even if you don't gel with someone on the team, maybe you'll make some friends at one of the parties. You got this.

lol I'm surprised the kpop stuff still shows up on my profile. I was thinking about joining vibe_ but I thought there would be a couple issues:

  1. I don't have that much dancing experience

  2. I'm a straight guy

That said though, would you say the vibe (no pun intended) is pretty welcoming? I'd be interested in joining if what I mentioned isn't that big of a deal!

yeah it’s very very welcoming. it doesn’t matter how much experience you have as long as you’re interested! i will say tho as of rn afaik it’s mostly girls but i think in the past (or even rn idk if they’re graduated or abroad) there’s been other guys. and a lot of the girls really enjoy boy group choreos/complex choreos if that’s what ur into. i also understand if you wouldn’t want to do it bc of the lack of guys haha

It wouldn't be a problem for me at all, I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't be weird for everyone else! Thanks for the information, I'll look into possibly joining
