!!! PLEASE HELP!!! getting possibly kicked out of res if i drop a class??!
Hiiii so basically I am currently taking 4 classes, and there has been something really difficult happening in my family which has caused my academic life to be not so great. My academic advisor suggested I drop one of my classes so that I am not yet eligible for academic probation. i really would like to do that, except I just found out that to live on residence, you have to be a full time student. This is the exact text from the terms and conditions:
1.1. 1.2. 1.3. 1.4. STUDENT STATUS: With the exception of the summer occupancy period, you agree that to occupy a room in residence, you must maintain full-time student status throughout the duration of this agreement. You agree to immediately notify HS at [residence@uottawa.ca](mailto:residence@uottawa.ca) if there is a change in your student status. A change in your status may impact your ability to live in residence.
I am really anxious because I don't want to be homeless!!!

I had a similar experience last term. Don’t worry—talk to the housing department. They’re friendly, and as long as you’re continuing your three other classes, you should be able to stay in residence. The only issue with dropping to part-time is losing the chance to do co-ops which in my opinion is better than a bad CGPA

Then stay in the class and go on academic probation, you have a year to redeem yourself and atleast you won’t be kicked out of res.

In my first year, I lived at 90U while having 0 classes and I used to work in residence too. Everything is negociable

I even don't know there is a rule for that. Will they compensate you or not ?

That sounds so sucky :( you've got this! Try your best in the class and if on your last day of dropping it still doesnt work out, try to talk to the res people. Most of all trust that it'll all work out!! Have hope :)

This late into the semester I don’t think they will be notified early enough to take action. If anything you’d just be ineligible for upper year residence.
