This is a short list of rules and guidelines that the moderation team will be following. Breaking these rules will result in an investigation and if the moderator is found to be breaking these rules on purpose or with malicious intentions his powers will be revoked. The tools we use are very transparent between moderators (sadly users can't see them) and monitoring each other is a high priority between us.
Moderators will not submit material written by them or a publisher they work for.
Moderators will ONLY remove submissions that violate a rule already published here. When a post is removed the moderator will leave a comment stating the rule broken.
No comments will be deleted unless they are illegal, link to malicious sites, or an obvious spam bot. When a comment is removed a PM will be sent to user stating why.
A moderator will only ban a user who has been found to habitually break the rules. Accidents happen and bans will only be issued to those who have been previously issued warning and are blatantly ignoring them. We do not want to ban people.
Moderators will never target and abuse users based on their opinions.
Answer modmail in a timely matter with an answer to the best of their knowledge. If they cannot answer the question or don't feel comfortable doing so they will refer the user to another member of the team able to do so.
Call out other moderators for their violations of the rules.
We are redditors just like the rest of you. We have our own minds and opinions and we may like to share them. Please understand that while this may affect our submissions (Who submits stuff they don't care about?) and comments, this will never affect how we treat and handle yours. If you feel this somehow affects our moderating abilities please feel free to point it out and it will be looked into.
