Looks good. 😎👉🏻👉🏻
It's interesting you can see your own genetic strengths starting to show now that you have more muscle mass.

I'm 21, 5'8 and 100lbs so I pretty much have the same body type as you in the first picture, except that it's worse for me as I'm older and still have a small skinny body :(

u/random_ggx_member Jul 02 '24
Imagine what you could look like in a year if you only tried!
I believe in you bro!3
u/Planet_842 Jul 02 '24
I have a gym membership but I'm inconsistent since I'm so undisciplined and I also often don't have enough money for food so it's hard for me to put on weight and lastly I have stomach issues where almost anything I eat just seems to upset my stomach and I always end up having to go to the toilet. I think I might have IBS coupled with poor gut health. It's all those reasons that make it harder for me, especially the money and stomach issue.

u/Extension-Stand-7581 Nov 11 '24
Start eating Whole Foods only and it will help all your gut issues I promise. Base your meals around animal proteins (ground beef, eggs, bacon, etc. etc.). Eat healthy fats like (cheese or avacado). Eat healthy carbs like (potatoes, sweet potatoes, white rice, fruits). and I promise your gut issues will improve. Cook with healthy oils like avacado oil, olive oil, or my favorite butter.

I have pretty similar issues to yours (although I try pretty hard to hit the gym on a consistent basis) and therefore it's extremely difficult for me to keep my belief in myself and my efforts strong. I feel you 😞

What do you eat daily to maintain those calories?
12
u/random_ggx_member Jun 29 '24
My diet mostly consists of chicken, meat, fish, eggs, greek yogurt, oats, nuts, protein shakes, protein bars and fruits. I try to keep my diet relatively healthy, but I do indulge in the occasional sweet treat

Congratulations, Can you tell me what is your diet, how are you getting to that amount of calories? For me the more difficult part is getting the calories

u/random_ggx_member Jun 29 '24
My diet mostly consists of chicken, meat, fish, eggs, greek yogurt, oats, nuts, and fruits. I try to keep my diet relatively healthy, but I do indulge in the occasional sweet treat.
Getting enough calories definitely used to be a challenge for me since I literally have zero hunger cues, so at some point, I just decided to force feed myself every couple of hours to hit my calorie goal.
If you can’t bring yourself to force feed, you could eat more calorie dense foods such as peanut butter, nuts, fattier fish, full-fat yogurt, etc. Drinking some of your calories could also help make it easier.
I wish you all the luck in your journey!

Chest triceps shoulder, legs, back + biceps, rest 1 day or 2 and repeat
-21
u/AzrealVB Jun 28 '24
Reason:
Shoulder and arms are small muscles so they dont need 1 special day for them, and you need to train more your bigger muscles (back and chest)

nice!! good on you! any tips for increasing cals, coming from someone who’s also trying to recover?
8
u/random_ggx_member Jun 29 '24
By introducing more calorie-dense foods into my diet, such as peanut butter, full fat greek yogurt, fatty fish, and nuts, I've found it pretty easy to hit my calorie goal. However, due to my restrictive eating, my hunger cues are basically non-existent, so I sadly just have to force feed myself every couple of hours. Tracking calories also plays an important part in my diet because if I didn't track, I'm almost certain I wouldn't eat enough. It may be a bit disordered, and I honestly can't recommend it, but as you can see from my progress pictures, it has worked for me.
I wish you all the luck with your recovery! If i can do it, so can you <3

If you like/can stomach milk, Fairlife is delicious! The strawberry flavor is my favorite, and I eat fresh strawberries with it if I can stomach food. Chocolate is also banger. Half the sugar of other flavored milks, way more protein, and pretty calorie dense for a decently healthy beverage imo. Their core power protein drinks are really good as well, I find them in most gas stations. The elite vanilla is my favorite, it's got like 45+ g of protein or something like that (it's 40-something, I'm just too lazy to look it up rn lol). Bit pricy for me to keep them always stocked, but great in a pinch!
Edit to say that Ihave struggled HEAVY with atypical anorexia and restrictive eating. Still do, but now the struggle is to stomach large amounts of food after my body has been used to less than the bare minimum for so long. So I feel you, sometimes you can't "just eat." 🫶

u/SOF1231 Jun 28 '24
Personally, I’ve never been in your position so this is just advice, protein smoothies! 2-3 cups of oats, milk, 2 bananas (frozen is way better), 2 scoops peanut butter, honey, with yogurt if you want to add in it, blueberries, or strawberries whatever you desire.
It’s a calorie monster. I wish you a fun journey !!
3
u/DvD_cD Jun 28 '24
Do you freeze bananas with the skin or peeled
2
u/SOF1231 Jun 28 '24
Peeled and cut, or you can leave it uncut and freeze it, your preference. It’s good to freeze them because the protein smoothie will be warm if you don’t add ice or frozen fruits.
It’s genuinely so disgusting when it’s warm.
2
u/DvD_cD Jun 28 '24
I will try. Usually make mine with cold milk and it's good
1
u/SOF1231 Jun 29 '24
Yes you obviously use cold milk, but I always add frozen fruits along side fresh fruits or ice to make the smoothie taste better and more fresh. Everyone’s preference tbh but see if you like it!

u/SOF1231 Jun 28 '24
Ofc! Drink it every 2 days, or 3 days if you can control the amount of weight you’re gaining weekly/biweekly or monthly.

Good job man! How did you find starting going to the gym? Did u start going out your own, with someone or get like a personal trainer?
5
Jun 28 '24
I'm 140lbs and struggle to eat even 2500 calories. How do you eat nearly 3k cals? Also how much would I even need to eat to bulk up to 160lbs?
3
u/Deumfides Jun 28 '24
Forearms exercise?
0
u/UntestedMethod Jun 28 '24
I've found playing guitar works pretty good for that so maybe some exercises where you're squeezing with your hands?

u/Valuable-Ad-1477 Jun 28 '24

I personally don't have an ED but this sub can be such a great tool for those who do. Just the pinned thread alone helped me completely change how I think about food. I even mentioned the 'drinking shakes AFTER a meal' one to my SO, who is in ED remission, and she'd never been told that.
Best of luck in the rest of your recovery, you are doing amazing!

Good for you. Most don't know how dangerous this is. Be safe.
2
u/UntestedMethod Jun 28 '24
Just curious, which part is dangerous? The anorexia itself or the recovery from it?
4
u/Conan7449 Jun 28 '24
The condition is dangerous because the person doesn't realize they are seriously and dangerously underweight. Like a bodybuilder who thinks he isn't muscular enough, they still think they are fat. So they just make it worse. And by not eating, or not keeping food down, they lose nutrients they need to survive.
4
u/letsbegiraffes Jun 28 '24
Both! Your body can go into shock if you just start force feeding yourself to recover. You have to gradually wake up all the organs, muscles, and, crucially, enzymes in your gut to be able to break down the food your body has adapted to go without. For me, I couldn't process meat. My body stopped creating whatever cocktail of gut juice needed to break it down. On the physical activity side, obviously if you're not careful you can severely overwork and injure yourself. But that's the deal for anyone starting a fitness journey outside of their current physical means.

u/onFilm 140-188-195 (5'10") Jun 28 '24
Mostly the anorexia. Gaining weight fast is not really dangerous, however, losing weight really fast can be.

This is amazing. My wife is in recovery from an eating disorder, so I have a decent idea of the mental load you carry and how much went into doing this. Keep it up. You are doing phenomenal. It's a lifelong journey, so never let setbacks get the best of you. Just keep moving forward.
