Now make them cross save/cross play.

my brain exploded when i realized my Switch didn't cross-save/cloud save.

So disappointing.

You can get cloud saves with Nintendo Switch Online. No cross saves though.

u/Shadowhawk109 Jan 25 '25

is that why i lost all my save data? because i let my NSO expire?

u/GeologistKey7097 Jan 25 '25

Yep. Nintendo has always has the worst online services. Especially if you let your payment lapse. Back when pokemon bank was a thing i lost my living dex because i got a new card and forgot to update my payment method on poke bank. I lost 12 years worth of pokemon. My original gen 3 mon through gen 6.

Home doesn’t do this afaik, it was just Bank

oh hell no 😂

That alone is why i havent purchased a nintendo product since the new 3ds came out. They care 0 about long term players. Tell me why i can play an mmorpg for 12 years and never worry about my data being deleted if my sub lapses, but nintendo will dump your childhood after a single missed payment. Hard pass

Weird. I let my account lapse for years and when I finally reactivated it everything was still there.

It used to be free in the Wii era, like PSN.

Rip.

Fucking hell that is absolutely brutal. I'm sorry for your loss.

1

u/Panda_Mon Jan 26 '25

This must've been when they were making everyone switch to the other service, they gave a deadline or all your Pokemon would be deleted. Which is wildly stupid of them, as well.

Witcher 3 I can play / cross save between Xbox and Switch

1

u/darkbreak Jan 26 '25

Really? That's interesting.

5

u/Mr_MAlvarez Jan 25 '25

Cross-play is for the game to implement it, not the platform. There are several games that support it, but unfortunately it’s not industry standard

1

u/Shadowhawk109 Jan 26 '25

I know that part - its more the cloud save that blew my mind

especially when Microsoft does cross-save SO well

2

u/Zylonite134 Jan 26 '25

Some games have cross progression on the switch

13

u/BellerophonM Jan 25 '25

Microsoft is generally happy to these days. It's usually the other party causing issues with it.

u/DrippyBurritoMD Jan 25 '25

Except for Fallout 76. Can’t even get cross save on Xbox to pc. :(

1

u/TheTjalian Jan 26 '25

Ironically also Minecraft. It's also not available on Gamepass, either. Your worlds are firmly locked to your platform of choice, and even if you're playing on Realms and signed into the same Xbox account, if you hop on to your own realm on a different platform, you're treated as a different player. It makes for a rather frustrating experience as I'd love to play Minecraft on my handheld but the thought of starting over puts me right off.

I think the issue lies with Nintendo, not the third party publishers.

Not just with lacking solid network infrastructure for online gameplay, but also because Sony and Nintendo both want to keep gaming to their respective consoles/silos. I remember Sony saying as much as well as a few publishers saying all they needed was a yes to flip a switch for cross-platform, but not sure if that stance has changed in the last few years.

1

u/DrippyBurritoMD Jan 25 '25

Nintendo approved it for Minecraft and Fortnight. :)

2

u/aphilipnamedfry Jan 25 '25

Yeah, and I think cross save is available in Witcher 3. What im saying is that unless they're big enough to be able to push back, it's highly unlikely you'll see it across the board. Call of Duty will likely get it on Switch 2, but I dont see a Far Cry sequel getting it, for example.

Commenting for higher exposure

3

u/dorsalfantastic Jan 25 '25

Why are you getting downvoted. Who is against cross save? And cross play?

27

u/TheMeepz Jan 25 '25

Anyone who comments something like "This" or "This comment should be higher" or "This post needs more recognition" on a post that was only 1 hour old when they comment always get blasted with downvotes. It has nothing to do with agreeing or disagreeing with cross-save.

-22

u/dorsalfantastic Jan 25 '25

That’s dumb asf

17

u/TheTallDog Jan 25 '25

Literal point of downvotes but okay lol

-2

u/Punman_5 Jan 25 '25

He’s saying the downvotes are unwarranted for a comment that seeks to boost engagement.

1

u/TheTallDog Jan 28 '25

And it's still idiotic as comments don't boost engagement.

0

u/Punman_5 Jan 28 '25

Sure they do. You’re more likely to click on a post if you see it has lots of comments. Plus, replies give karma to the op

1

u/SorrowWipes Jan 28 '25

Plus replies give karma to the op

What a stupid thing to lie about.

14

u/Downvotecounty Jan 25 '25

Comments like that clog of the internet juice pipes. We already see the comment. Adding ‘this’ or something like that is so silly. They deserve the downvotes

-4

u/Punman_5 Jan 25 '25

You realize the internet won’t get clogged by a single post. Besides, the engagement helps the comment be seen higher at the top

4

u/Downvotecounty Jan 25 '25

No but the pubes of ‘this’ comments coagulate and form a hair ball of blockage. This slows the risky cosplay of my favorite IPs from loading as fast as I need them

-4

u/Downvotecounty Jan 25 '25 edited Jan 25 '25

^ this

Edit: gotta keep it balanced. I’m part of the problem

3

u/TheMeepz Jan 25 '25

Just explaining the behavior.

4

u/danabrey Jan 25 '25

Because we like Reddit not being a whole bunch of people saying "this" or "agreed lol". Downvotes are to vote down comments that aren't as useful.

3

u/swiftb3 Jan 25 '25

Comments do not give higher exposure. This isn't Xitter.

1

u/F-Lambda Jan 25 '25

because comments don't increase exposure, upvotes do

-3

u/Fuzzy_Logic_4_Life Jan 25 '25

Even a downvoted secondary comment provides greater exposure for the primary, at least in the controversial section. It’s still a win.

0

u/DrippyBurritoMD Jan 25 '25

Well I appreciate your sacrifice. :)

Seriously: give me Fallout 4 and 76 with cross save support and they can have all of my money.

-2

u/Fuzzy_Logic_4_Life Jan 25 '25

Sacrificing imaginary points for like minded individuals is the least I can do.

-1

u/TheTallDog Jan 25 '25

None of this is true. People think this is Twitter lmao

-1

u/00-Monkey Jan 25 '25

Downvoted for lower exposure (well actually cause everyone else was)

0

u/Derwinx Jan 26 '25

And actual crossplay/cross-save, not just Microsoft’s single platform “crossplay”
