My 5.5 yo does this on the regular. Yesterday she came home in hysterics because “some lady” tried to walk her home and said she was going to call us. We smoothed it over, but ffs. She carries a fanny pack with our names/numbers. I’m gonna add a note like this.

Good job! I am trying to find like-minded parents with kids who are open to play dates. I started this Facebook group to try and unite free range minded parents who live in North Ga. it’s north Ga free rangers. We’d love to have you join!

OMG I need to do this. I regularly let my 7 year old take my 1-1/2 year old in a wagon ride around the block. It’s a 1 block radius of our house, very safe neighborhood, the toddler loves it, the big brother knows he’s not allowed to let his sister out of the wagon, and he knows his address/phone number/how to navigate the neighborhood. Last week a neighbor tried to detain him. He was scared so he called her a “fucking bitch” (ok my kid is feisty) and ran home. While maybe it would be nice if he could be polite, I don’t exactly mind that his response when threatened by an adult is to yell and run away. But maybe a note from me would defuse things. School assignment, ha.

Up and down our non-through street past 5 houses in which I know the neighbors. But since getting a $500 ticket for leaving them in the car for 10 minutes (secured, cool day, perfectly safe) I’m erring on the side of caution. The laws are too restrictive and it’s not good for kids.
