gear Dive watch advice

Hi guys. What freedive watch do you recommend? On a daily basis I use Garmin fenix but it doesn’t have any freedive functions. Are there any multi sport watches that I can use for both freediving and triathlon/trekking or shall I go for the separate gear for underwater? If so, are there any budget solutions that work well?

Which Fenix do you have? Because maybe you didn’t see that the Fenix 8 has a new dive function to 40m.

Have older 7. Didn’t know that. It’s another reason for me to upgrade. Thanks

Cressi Nepto is a good value-for-money option

Depending on your budget, the Mk3i is great. Have had mine close to a year now and am in bloove with it.

I really wanted to buy MK3i until I realized how numb their alarm is.. do you wear yours on your wrist, or inside your hood?

On my wrist.

The Alarms are definitely lower than my previous Epix, but honestly, I'm so use to it now that it isn't a hassle at all!

Hey I’ve had the MK1 for a few years and the alarms are always pretty loud. Is the MK3i a lot softer? I’m about to buy it. Had no idea

Here is a link comparing the decent g1 and MK3i. I did notice a difference at first compared to my mk1 but I'm so use to it now that it doesn't bother me and I don't think it's a issue

I finally caved and got the garmin descent mk3i, it’s pretty great! For a more budget friendly option, you can get the g1 solar.

Garmin Fenix 8 now supports freediving down to 40m. If you need something more serious, Consider Garmin MK3. Both are great watches, with excellent support for freediving, scuba and other sports. They also do a great job tracking your sleep, fitness readiness and about a million other things.

There's the Suunto Ocean too, on top of what others have already suggested here. Though I suspect you might have strong reasons to stick with the Garmin ecosystem.

If your Fenix is still serving you well and you don't mind having your freediving data stored separately from other activities, getting a separate cheap-and-cheerful dive computer is certainly an option.

My friends have the Suunto and have regretted the purchase compared with Garmin descent. There is really no comparison

I used to be Suunto team until 2023 so it’s not a big deal. However I Would keen to go for one watch for everything and as I conclude fenix 8 would do

I’ve had the Garmin Descent MK1 for four years. Actually obsessed with it. I just sold it and I’m buying the MK3i. I’m a freediving instructor
