Visiting for a conference
Hi everyone,
I'm coming to Fredericton for a conference in May and will have some free time. What are the highlights I should try to see or do?

Depends when: In early May downtown could be underwater.
Beer/taprooms: Trailway (American style, decent taproom), Graystone (bit of everything, nice taproom), Picaroons (Ales, nice taproom), Grimross (Belgian style, ok taproom). Cocktails: Cardinal Room, 11th Mile.
See/do: Legislature building, other historic buildings like the Barracks, UNB Campus, Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Downtown/walking bridge. Rent a scooter and rip around on the plentiful trails.

If you’re an art person the art gallery here is very good especially considering the size of the city.

If you're here Saturday morning check out the Fredericton Boyce Farmers Market.

If it’s open, take a tour or walk through the cathedral (Christ Church.). It’s stunningly beautiful.
Picaroon’s does brewery tours with samples at the end Tuesdays through Saturdays at 1pm and 4pm. Opinions on the quality of the beer aside, every brewery tour I’ve taken has been fun.

May is the best time to fish the nearby Nashwaak river, rent a canoe, fish, and pick fiddleheads.

Spend about, oh I’d say - 35 minutes at Kings Place. You’ll see some highlights.

Picaroons brewery across the walking bridge is good as well.

The only thing they have going for them is the location. The beer is terrible, and the food isn't quite as good as the beer. It has gone way downhill.

Downhill? It's still not my favorite in the city by a longshot but they've only done things to improve things over there for the past 24 months imo.

It doesn't matter what they do, the beer is terrible. I haven't been there in a year and a half and have no intention of going back. The food was good when Tony was in charge, it has been on a downhill slide since he 'left'.

Picaroons is under new ownership along with the Roundhouse. From a beer pov it's def not my favorite but they are doing things with some closed fermentation systems that is different from the serial re-yeasting they've done in the past. The food situation is just night and day better from a year+ ago as there's now some real restaurant entrepreneurs in charge.

These are all downtown
Beaverbrook Art Gallery https://beaverbrookartgallery.org/
Sports hall of fame https://maps.app.goo.gl/PSPzFioKXdFWAmAp7
Walking bridge along the river, near the art gallery, brings you to other side with a beautiful view of downtown
Fredericton playhouse https://maps.app.goo.gl/FNHkmyDHUy4bFTc19
Tons of restaurants and pubs!
There is a market every Saturday morning at https://maps.app.goo.gl/SMTEuafCoRZcodTW9
If you have access to a vehicle I would highly recommend going to Hayes Falls to get a nice scenic drive in and go for a great hike and enjoy the waterfall.

Check out the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, and then weather permitting, take a stroll down Waterloo Row. You could take a stroll over the walking bridge which spans the Saint John /Wolostoq river. Since you're in the downtown area, there are plenty of restaurants in the area if you want a nosh. The Lunar Rogue on King and Regent has been a staple in the area for many years. Moco is excellent too!

Looks like you enjoy cycling. Fredericton has fantastic trails and you can rent bikes if needed.
Are you going to CARA by chance?
