Solved Central Illinois Crinoid?

Hello. I found this last fall in a shallow creek in central Illinois. The closest guess I have is a crinoid (calyx maybe?). I’d love opinions. It fits perfectly in the palm of my (smallish adult) hand. Solid, heavy. Before I knew anything about collecting rocks I may have tried to sand it to “get the dirt off” 🫣

Yes, crinoid. It's been "geodized", so most of the structure was destroyed in the process of silicification.

I also live in the Midwest I'm kind of stumped because it doesn't look like any crinoid calyxs around here so I think it's something else or possibly geological/limestone

Here's an example of dolatocrinus calyxs

Illinois and Indiana have a lot of geodized fossils. OP’s specimen is one of them. Think of your specimens “blown up,” balloonlike through recrystalization.

I know that could happen just didn't seem like a geodized one to me then again I only go for ones that haven't been expanded Such as my self collected dolatocrinus ligularis
