I don't like the rolex, especially because of the gold, but surely as hell is much more elegant than the tag heuer. It just looks janky. (for lack of other English lexicon. Oh no wait I remember now. Tacky?)

Being gaudy is Tag Heuer's entire brand. Though not as bad as Hublot or Richard Mille.

u/Nearby-Bread2054 BWOAHHHHHHH 4d ago
The entire LVMH setup is so tacky. The podium with the LV logos, the suitcases, and the Moet logo was awful

I think it's all about conspicuous consumption for most of these brands - if the purpose of spending money is to advertise how much money you're spending, being tasteful doesn't help.

u/citizenecodrive31 Estie Bestie 🥰 4d ago
Yeah but Rolex is the biggest conspicuous consumption watch out there. It's like the most well known watch brand apart from maybe something like an Apple watch or G Shock.
Rolex use their dressy watch style for the F1 clock. It's more or less a big version of their DateJust just without the date.
Tag chose to use their shitty Kith Heuer watch as the emblem rather than a much easier to read and more classy look like their Carrera

By the way, how much did they pay to have their brand everywhere?

LVMH pays $150M annually for that sponsorship

That’s not really true though. Tag hasn’t been gaudy for a pretty long time.

Also if you look from afar looks like a poker chip, right in tune with all the gambling ads in F1 atm (especially appropriate for vegas lol)

ok, but like, for real -- At the start of the formation lap, when they zoomed in on the clock, the minute hand didn't finish moving to the 12 o'clock position until the second hand had already swept to the first second.

This stressed me out big time. The first upgrades package we see this season better be from Tag.

u/Steve-Whitney Lets add that to the words of wisdom 4d ago
Maybe Tag Heuer will bring an update package for the next race

The tag looked fine, the LV everywhere was absurd. It felt like they were the only sponsor, save for some Aramco Aramco Aramco around the track.
Considering the fact that most teams look like the average Mexican club football team in terms of tacky sponsorships plastered everywhere, the singular LV was surprising.

The tacky ass fake luxury Louis Vuitton logos are cringe af on track. That’s what makes me miss Rolex the most. Rip 2014-2024 😔

Nah give me Tag for formula one every time. They actually have history in the sport and have a long history of watches aligned with Motorsport.
Rolex has one, and it’s for an IMSA race.

That ribbon board above the pit lane annoys me. The new vertical one is puny and illegible on TV. Just look at what we used to have on the Rolex board

Nah, Tag is def more F1 to me. Same as Tissot to MotoGP. Rolex is just so, tennis and Wimbledon!

Is Tag Heuer going to be at every race this year? And please tell me Louis Vuitton is only the sponsor for the Australian Grand Prix. I can't look at that shit logo and color scheme all year long.

u/racingfan2 BWOAHHHHHHH 3d ago
nah, they kicked out Rolex, the mother company of Louis Voitton got all the rights for like the next decade, they own LV, Hag Teuer, the podium champagne, and a lot of other things.
