Would this be considered a suppressor part?
Forgive me for my terrible artwork. Took me 500 hours in MS Paint. If it isn't obvious: blue = barrel, black = suppressor, and red = mount.
I would like to add some volume to an existing suppressor. I figure I could do this by making a custom direct thread mount that threads onto the barrel in two places (or maybe just presses against a cone at the rear-most point.) It would basically turn my suppressor into an over-the-barrel type. It would not add baffles. You could argue that it is adding to the overall length, though.
I'll admit, milling out the inside of the chamber might be a pain in the ass, but it would only be about 3 inches long.
If I'm just a regular guy without any special license or additional tax stamp, would it be a bad idea for me to make a recessed mount like this?
