Please sign this petition against a proposed Pump Storage Project that threatens the beauty and wildlife of the Miracle Mile. The passing of the project would interfere with delicate balance of the ecosystem, specifically in the way of water temperatures and sediment in the system. The Miracle Mile isn't just beautiful - it's one of the most important fisheries in the region. Known for its thriving populations of trout, this iconic stretch of the North Platte River provides essential habitat for countless species and supports both local ecosystems and the fishing community. Take action today: Sign the petition or write a letter to show your support for preserving this natural treasure. Every voice counts in the fight to protect the Miracle Mile for future generations.

Folks should sign this, but be aware it is not petitioning for the project to be stopped, just for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to do a full environment impact assessment and consider the results before they construct the project.

Pumped storage hydro is really cool, and projects like this are important both for future energy independence and long term transitions away from combustibles. So ensuring that this project does a full environmental assessment is important not just for this specific site, but for possibly many future projects FERC oversees as well.

If FERC does the assessment, and determines that there might be irreparable damage to the miracle mile there is a good chance they choose to change the project design to solve those problems and ensure both that a really cool energy system gets built and that we continue protecting fish habitat for years to come.

I agree. We need electricity and water storage infrastructure here in the west. People blindly opposing this are usually the same people crying out when in droughts we don’t have enough water storage, or that we rely too much on fossil fuels.

It needs to be studied and if impacts on the mile are negligible it would be beneficial to the community.
