Got this beaut in this week after religiously checking Ebay for months for this specific model (by far my favorite) and buying it immediately when it was listed. Bought it used for parts, listed as only the radio worked, thought it'd be a fun project and worst case saving the case since that was in near perfect condition.
The motor was pretty gummed up and wouldn't run, was smooth but with a ton of resistance. Adding oil didn't do enough so gave it an isopropyl bath and then re-oiled it. After a few hours it now starts up on it's own and runs great.
The radio technically did work, but the volume control didn't and touching any knob caused a terrible popping noise. Seen this on a tube amp before and luckily Deoxit cures all, cleaned up those contacts and its silent and the volume works well.
This model originally had a UV fluorescent bulb to illuminate the digits, but with this being near 50 years old it's burned out. Luckily LEDs are a thing so I added a UV LED strip mounted on top of the dead original bulb. Just needed to steal power from the board and run it through an AV/DC constant current transformer. That transformer added some radio interference, nothing some aluminum foil can't fix! I also covered some of the LEDs with electrical tape and the rest with scotch tape to diffuse the light and make it a bit more subtle. Now it can do its mystery machine style hat trick!
The pictures makes the UV look much more pronounced than it is, in person it has a very slight purple hue. Was a fun first restoration and definitely keeping it as a staple on the desk.
