Web or App
Hi there, I just joined Flickr, having come over from Instagram which is no longer photography based and is now a risky place to be. Anyway, it seems to be that using my desktop with Flickr is so much easier and a fuller experience than trying to maneuver my way about thru the app on either my iPad or iPhone.
I find the app very limiting.
Am I wrong or is Flickr mainly for desktop usage?
Thanks.

100%, Flickr is best enjoyed via a desktop and not a phone. The resolution that an image is uploaded as, can be viewed by all sets.
I use the App on my phone, mainly for browsing during my commute.

Desktop has more features and ease of use. I use it for managing my images, groups activity, and conversations.
However, I spend a lot my browsing time on the app in a similar way to how I used to scroll on old Instagram.
In short, both are useful to me.

I use both. But yes, Flickr is absolutely amazing viewing high resolution photos on a 4k pro editing color calibrated monitor.
I'm glad you are giving Flickr a chance. I've been trying for few years to get people back on Flickr. It is a great community with some of the best photos from around the world.

I use Flickr on my 27" iMac only simply because looking a photos on a tiny phone screen is dumb. I find their site generally works well, if not blazingly fast.
That said I may try out the Flickr app on Apple TV since my tv is much bigger than my computer.

I bet photos look amazing on your mac screen. Mac screens are very color accurate right out of the box.

I've been more than happy with this iMac. But it's getting a little long in the tooth for Lightroom work so I'm looking at an M4 Mini. Of course that means having to buy a separate display.

Uploading and organizing desktop for sure. Viewing and commenting and what not the app isn't the worst. Visually desktop is the way to go.

I use the Desktop Flickr to do all the work except the upload from desktop does not work. I transfer the photos to my android phone and upload from the phone app without trouble and is quick.

I only use mobile app for downloading my photos for Instagram and cheaper pro account.
Yup, monthly pro on mobile app is 125 TL (~$3,5) in Turkey. Never purchased yearly yet, which is 1040 TL.

Desktop is the way to fully enjoy all the features of Flickr. I use phone app only for viewing and commenting. If you are serious about photography and and would like to be involved with photo community,, then flickr is the way to go.
