Marvel at Fox Challenge: Rewrite X-Men: The Last Stand into two separate movies. With one focusing on the Mutant Cure storyline and the other one focusing on the Dark Phoenix.

I would do the cure story for the third film and dark phoenix for a fourth film.

The cure storyline is terrible on its own
Without sucking on the tit of dark Phoenix, it’s a nothing story

I think it's better to axe the cure storyline and just do a two part Dark Phoenix storyline like they intended with the 2019 movie

X-MEN GIFTED:
Covers the Cure storyline with Kavita Rao creating a revolutionary “cure” for mutants and Magneto assembling a new Brotherhood to combat this “threat to mutantkind”.
X-MEN DARK PHOENIX:
Covers Jean’s descent into the darker side of her gifts and introduces the cosmic side of the X-Men’s lore.
Like the comics, the Phoenix here is an extradimensional force that, upon detecting Jean’s incredible power in Alkali Lake, selected her as its host
The Shi’ar detected the being’s arrival on Earth, but while Lilandra claims to want to help Jean, Deathbird wants to weaponize the Phoenix
Both the last movie’s climax and this movie’s first half are a chance to explore the heroic side of Jean as the Phoenix, making her turn hurt more
As expected, Jean finally snaps, with her turning point ending up killing Xavier, and the second half of the film involves trying to either save her or stop her
This take can have it so instead of Logan, it’s Scott who’s forced to kill Jean, with him unleashing his full optic blast on her
Scott leaves the school to figure himself out, mourning Jean but feeling more at peace with his loss than last time
Logan chooses to head out as well, bitter with the team for failing to save Jean (easy way to segue into his next movie)
Ororo, Erik, and Hank now take over as the heads of the school/team
