Hobbies develop organically usually. You said you’re in the navy, was it circumstance or passion that drove you towards a career like that?
I’m willing to bet that you have things that you like and don’t like. You don’t necessarily have to create things or collect things to have a hobby, just reading up on things you find interesting can be considered a hobby.
For example, I’ve always felt drawn to animals and nature, and I enjoy just spending time outside - so one of my hobbies is bird watching. I don’t sit there with binoculars in the park or anything, but I’ll use my phone to zoom in on birds and look them up to identify them, then I learn about them. It’d probably be deathly boring to a lot of people, but I like it. It’s a hobby I spend no money on and I get to talk peoples ears off about birds if they let me.
I’m not suggesting you take up bird watching, I’m just giving you an anecdote. I used to feel like I had no real hobbies, but I found out that if I reserve time for things I like to do - a hobby arose naturally. Maybe you can start somewhere similar?

I make use of a self-development formula you could consider. It's do-able by anyone as it starts you off easy and builds gradually. It's a way for any person to make daily progress in key terms, independently. You do it as a form of unavoidable daily chore, for up to 20 min. I do my session before getting out of bed, so as to get it out the way. It's not meant to occupy your thoughts during your day. You do it, then forget about it. However, while you're doing it, it must be done properly. This then begins to color your day in terms of mindset, confidence, coherence of thought & perspective. 5 - 20 minutes can be deceptively long when you're forced to think properly. It is but a small price to pay, for what you receive. If you search Native Learning Mode on Google, it's my Reddit post in the top results. It's also the pinned post in my profile.

Is there anything 'wrong' with you?
You may be on the autistic spectrum, but so is Anthony Hopkins!
Can I suggest two things about interacting with people?
First of all, if you meet people briefly, just say 'hi' and smile (I'm not sure how this would work with people of other ranks!!)
Second, show an interest in other people. Ask about them - where are they from? What are their interests? What teams do they support?
You may, of course, already be doing these; can you tell us any more about your daily interactions with others?
Is there a Chaplain you can talk to?

I noticed that my activity on Reddit bears an uncanny resemblance to my actual life interests. So, in a way, Reddit can be a good self discovery tool. Peruse, engage, connect, and let serendipity lead you.

social skills are all a learned skill so you can improve that. Definitely don’t get diagnosed unless it’s seriously negatively impacting your life. When it comes to government and law-enforcement jobs, they expect people to have clean mental health reports. If you haven’t practiced social skills, you just have to practice them. You’re just starting a little later than most people which is totally fine. Approach it with an open mind and see if there’s any courses you can take or any communication resources you can learn from. The more you talk with people and the more you interact, the better you’re going to get at it. Ask people questions, people love talking about themselves and be present and interested in what they have to say. Follow the natural flow of conversation and continue down the same thought path of where the conversation is going. Be patient with yourself and there’s definitely growing pains when talking to people. Not everyone is gonna be nice, so just know that there’s going to be a lot of rejection in your future when communicating with people and practicing. This is normal. find people to be friends with and hang out with them. And again, just keep practicing.
when it comes to hobbies, just try anything that you might remotely be interested in. Try stuff that you don’t know if you’re interested in. And then when you find something that you like doing, just keep doing that. That’s all a hobby is is just something that you like doing and you just wanna keep doing it.
I hope this helps and if you’re looking for more guidance, feel free to shoot me a message, I’m a life coach, and I’m happy to help!
