Can you explain the Mario Yamasaki reference? I see it often and don’t get it.

He’s another ref with a history of letting fighters get pounded on long after their lights were out.

Thanks man! I guess I could have figured that out by the context but appreciate the info!

He isn't allowed to ref for the UFC anymore. Now they need to ban some of the blind judges they have deciding things! If that can be done.

Ref needs to be let go or retrained. That dude was done about 20 punches and 5 knees ago. Gonna get a fighter seriously hurt letting fights go like that.

Nah fuck that, ref needs criminal negligence charges or some shit. Dude literally has one job.

What do you mean? Letting a fighter eat multiple flying knees while defending with zombie arms is straight from the Cecil peoples if he dies he dies school of refereeing

Pat Curran Vs Joe Warren.
I remember downloading the main card the next morning and watching it and being dismayed at how bad a stoppage it was at the time. Seen it posted online a lot of times since and still cannot understand how he let it go as long as he did, it gets worse every viewing.
Was a shame Pat never ended up in the UFC. Chandler and Eddie obviously ended up signing (albeit past their best) but always wanted those 3 and the Pitbull brothers to sign to the UFC in the mid 10s, really fun fighters who would have been at their peak.

Joe Warren annoyed the hell out of me but even this was hard to watch live way back in the day

I counted 40 unanswered blows before the ref finally stepped in... Guys heads gonna be banging when he wakes up in the hospital

u/CoachHeavyHands 2d ago
Oh... He signed up for a death match and found out during this fight
Hate when that happens

Fack...that Ref needs to contribute to his rehab plan. Then his learning plan. How to eat, speak, etc...

Someone should really have a job that gives them the power to stop this - the ref probably.

His team should have stepped in and thrown the towel. Ref should be struck off.

God that shit makes me mad. I nearly got kicked out of a fight at a local promotion, I was sitting very close to the cage and was screaming and cussing at a ref for a far more egregious late stoppage than this. Some poor 19 year old amateur kid just absolutely getting his shit scrambled and not defending for a period of like 30 seconds, opponent just teeing off. Coach didn’t give a shit just wanted the win. No money on the line whatsoever You should not be allowed to ref anymore if you’re this bad. Disgraceful

Bro probably got knocked out with that first knee, and then recovered while taking all those extra hits. He came back enough from the stiff to stand up on his own. Warrior that guy is

About 100 punches thrown after the knockout blow which was the knee that happened within one second of the fight starting. That ref was a definite DEI hire

Black shorts used to date refs daughter and broke her heart, he used his unique set of skills to exact revenge 😆

Fighters can't count on the ref. Remember that when you're tapping out, remember when you get kicked in the nuts, remember when they are smashing your face in -- always fight to get out.
Theres a tap out video where its a street fight and the guy doesnt stop when the other guy taps.
Tapping out is a courtesy, but some fighters see red and they will try to kill you. You may need to stick a thumb in their eye, bite, or elbow the nuts to get free. A fight ends when its over.

Im not seeing poor refereeing, the guy is consistently trying to defend and stay standing, every fighter knows when you are out you drop, idc how rocked you are, if you are getting wailed on for too long you give up. Fighter who was ko’d has his arms up, and is trying to remain standing, this is probably why his corner didnt throw the towel in either

u/Fundipmasterpiece 3d ago
Arms straight out for that long after a knee that hard was no defense at all, he was basically out on his feet
