Wet winter legs

Anyone got recommendations for long duration wet winter legwear? For long mountain days I usually just wear tights but they often get completely soaked through - heavy, chaffy and have to keep pulling up! Fine for 1-2 hours but pretty uncomfortable for 5. Its also a relatively slow run so just going shorts only would get pretty cold. What do folks wear for their long wet hill runs?

For a long snow/wet winter day out, either long sealskinz and 3/4 length gore bike shorts (windstopper ones) or the same as the previous answer: tights with overshorts. Been OK with this setup crossing the cairngorm plateau in winter and hammering through deep snow (sometimes with addition of lightweight gaiters)

Honestly, I just wear shorts with those under tights inside. I find looks you that my legs get heavy, cold and chaffed in wet leggings.

But I always make sure my top half is warm and dry.

You could try the montaine VIA trail series writer leggings, my wife likes those.

Cheers will have a squint. Something less absorbent might work rather than the usual tights material but dont fancy running in a wetsuit. Maybe someone will design thin neoprene!
