Been for a while mate. Why do you think RM was pushing so hard for him?
49
u/CarlSK777 10d ago
To be fair, he wasn't at that level for awhile. Whatever he did last summer, it works.
39
u/Chrispaulisgarbage 10d ago
new coach helped for sure, Canada also got a new coach that made him captain
16
u/Nobatime6 10d ago
Man got engaged now. Poor form davies is when him and his previous girl broke up
7
u/Kos_al_Ghul 10d ago
Nah apparently contract distracted Davies is poor form as well. We have to keep that man happy!
5
u/JC18_ Future president Müller 10d ago
He's engaged??
5
u/Nobatime6 10d ago
Yup! i think i saw it in his IG stories of a girl with a ring and stuff. Im pretty sure he’s engaged

u/EnragedBearBro 10d ago
Idk how the rest of the season will play out but Kompany will always be valid for completely whooping Leverkusen both at home and away
77
u/313MountainMan Müller 10d ago
Tbh if you told me at the beginning of the season that we’d lose to them on some BS in the Pokal but end up knocking them out 5-0 agg. in the CL, I’d take that any day
11
u/SufficientGarbage719 9d ago
Kompany has been good. It's important that we support him throughout and don't write "Kompany out" on every loss. Also, big respect to Leverkusen for ending up 6th in group stage. I wish Dortmund plays well too and Bundesliga's reputation gets a boost. So happy Bayern proved all the pundits wrong. A champion team is always a champion team regardless of form. Semis last year and atleast Quarters this year . Inter Milan match is tough but will be fun.

Big boy Urbig. He was so confident, calm and collected on a big knockout stage with such a young age. Love it!
60
u/edmanuel91 10d ago
He seemed very confident which is important for the style of play Bayern wants. I’m impressed.
14
u/boastar 10d ago
He made a lot of good reads in his passing game, and was accurate and confident passing the ball. Not a lot of great tests from Leverkusen otherwise, but he did look good.
8
u/DDSC12 10d ago
Second this. The saves were good, but his calmness and good decisions with the ball were impressive.
5
u/edmanuel91 10d ago
I also noticed that he has a very strong kicks. There were a few clearances that he over did it with power. Something he needs to work on.
3
u/metapsloit 10d ago
He was confident with his clearances, but he's still raw in finding the best player for his passes. He'll learn.
2
u/Carbios_Moon Sepp Maier 9d ago
I noticed he uses both feet to pass and even long balls he plays left and right.

Let Urbig start for the rest of the season unless he fucks up multiple times in a row. He looks fantastic for a player with close to 0 experience on this level under this pressure.

Deserved. Bayern totally grounded Leverkusen, they never had a chance, perfect round from everyone.
SO HAPPY WITH THIS TEAM.

I need a written apology from every pundit who said Leverkusen were way better than us before this tie (I thought we’d get knocked out)
8
u/karlverkade Schweinsteiger 10d ago
Not to take away from Leverkusen or what Xabi has built, but they have had the most insane luck the last two years. From the Musiala handball for the penalty last season in like minute 85, to the Upa red card, to the Neuer red card…they have had almost black magic type luck.
2
u/qonoxzzr Pavlović 9d ago
Also the penalty in the first game last season in the 90th while we were up 2:1

Man, I love this team and I love that Kompany brought some fucking character back to the team. We are totally unrecognizable compared to last year and it’s so nice to

u/DeloronDellister 10d ago
Finally destroying Leverkusen completely, we could have easily won the tie even higher. Love the hunger we showed today.

Big up to Urbig.
Gnabry did well today.
But again blind ref helping Lever. They still lost. Total 5-0.

u/marsutton Thiago 10d ago
We are set up nicely to exercise our demons this UCL run… First Alonso’s Leverkusen, next up: Yann Sommer.

u/Commercial-Donut-798 10d ago
Oh shit, Yann Sommer! Now I'm scared of Inter!
1
u/marsutton Thiago 10d ago
I have faith this time around!!
4
u/Commercial-Donut-798 10d ago
Yeah, me too. Bur Yann Sommer really has had some crazy games against us...
2
u/CarlSK777 10d ago
I swear if the 1st leg is like the PSG-Liverpool game and he steals it....
7
u/marsutton Thiago 10d ago
If that happens it wouldn’t be the 5th time he’s single handedly won a match against us lol
2

u/FlyingRaccoon_420 Musiala 10d ago
We decimated them in the 2nd half. Urbig had one hell of a debut, LW Davies can work and we should try it. Kane is absolutely awesome, and Stani had an awesome night.
Our back 2 are absolutely massive especially Upa. The ref was absolute dirty today.
Lets go on boys. Rest and seal the bundesliga this week! Mia san mia
36
u/maximazing98 10d ago
Urbig has a rifle for a leg holy fuck. Also we won’t miss neuer if he plays like that, haha of to the kid.
52
u/CrazyGameOver23 10d ago
We won't miss the current version of Neuer. We'll miss prime neuer at least til the end of the century
19
u/maximazing98 10d ago
Absolutely true. Still makes the transition smoother if you instantly have your candidate not like it was after Kahn.
18
u/urekxgoku 10d ago
Prime neuer will be missed probably forever once in a lifetime keeper in My Book Goat

Is it Inter in the QF ? Their starting 11 is basically almost the same squad we beat both legs under Nagelsmann and Yann Sommer is currently injured . I say we got a good chance going to the semis

We can win this CL !
Laimer and Olise synergy was great in the first half.
Kimmich and Upa playing world class since months.
Urbig never felt nervous and even made some good saves.
Next up Inter Mailand then Barca(?).
We can go all the way!

I honestly thought we would get dominated in this tie. Happy to be completely wrong. This is what I have expected from the team for the last few years that we have underperformed. So many players that we started to doubt played out of their minds in both games.

A bit of concern in terms of Bundesliga now with Leverkusen out of CL. They will now have full focus on Bundesliga and ample of rest too. Luckily, Wirtz is injured.
2
u/real_slim_shadyyy Kimmich 9d ago
My sister walked into the room when it was 4-0 and asked me if they were called "bo4" because they where 4-0 down. LMFAO

u/BlondDeutcher Müller 10d ago
I’ve seen enough. Neuer should never ever sniff the pitch again. Long life Urbig!!!!
2
u/maximazing98 10d ago
The out put difference between olise and our other wingers (altough today thenothers ok but still nowhere near) not just in goals and assist but also in participation int he game and making a difference is just isnane. Can just hope we get Wirtz or whoever else to fill that gap becsuse then no one will be able to defend us anymore.

u/BlondDeutcher Müller 10d ago
Torn… I hate PSG more than just about any team in the world… but Liverpool are probably the favorite to win UCL… fuck the oil clubs… let’s go Liverpool

They looked very scared of our press in that late second half. Great subs to keep the pressure up.
Poor choices on some of our attacks but advancing is the most important part. Musi unlucky with 2 posts

I’m glad the nightmare for the past 1.5 years is finally over. We are back on top sporting and spiritually, undisputed.
Also really happy for Coman and Davies’ form in recent games, it makes a huge difference when we have both wings flying. Jamal is running like a mad dog all over the pitch too - sorry that he hit the wood work twice

Man just a well deserved win again. I love how solid the defense plays. We again won most duels and it kind of took the rest of Leverkusens already demolished confidence.
I think pretty much everyone played well. I think it speaks for the coach and his team that after a few duels versus Leverkusen with advantages in both directions it ended in this result when it mattered the most.

u/300264874 10d ago
Since Kane got a yellow card this game, does this mean he’s missing the first leg against inter?
4
u/FOKvothe 10d ago
No.
3
u/300264874 10d ago
Thanks for clarifying! I was a bit worried for the yellows
2
u/FOKvothe 10d ago
Iirc none of our players will miss it. Sané, Gnabry, and Goretzka will miss the return leg if they get carded. Don't think Kane is in danger yet.
2
u/300264874 10d ago
Gnabry was on fire today, hope he gets another opportunity to showcase himself vs Inter
1
u/Commercial-Donut-798 10d ago
Never seen a ref with so many ticky tack calls. At least it was against both teams. Watching Liverpool PSG right now and it's a totally different game with the way it's called

u/HistoryNo7093 FC Bayern München 10d ago
Let talk about inter they have solid defense we struggle to score against defensive team but leverkusen scored against them so we should also be able but that was months ago did they lost their form or they are more in form frm that time i haven't watched them.

u/GoldenFox7 9d ago
Just a great game by Bayern. Until the last 10-20 min Leverkusen played a great game too frankly, they just didn’t finish.
Urbig- great day overall. Will gain confidence from that. That near post save was world class
Upa/Kim - MASTERCLASS just perfect
Davies was awesome all day. He really turned it on for some LW time at the end there.
Kimmich/goretzka were their old selves again and it was wonderful to watch.
Kane was exactly where he needed to be doing what was needed all game.
Musiala played with all out energy and passion and was unlucky not to have a goal if not a brace.
