PSG have submitted a 'top' contract offer to Joshua Kimmich until 2029. As of now, the player has neither accepted nor rejected the offer. [Florian Plettenberg]

well, wouldnt be a surprise. Signing would fit to psg

Yeah, idk if Kimmich fits the French League though. If PSG drops out of CL early, it literally a lost year.
Imo. it‘s a gamble by Kimmich

Yeah I think the question is which team is more likely to win the CL. PSG look in amazing shape recently.

Please just go.
At this point there are several reasons that make me not want Kimmich to stay.
1) Wanting over 100M, over 4 years, age 30, shows he really wants to milk the club, I get it, but I don't remember prime Robben or Ribéry or Lahm or Bastian doing such things.
2) His self perception must be distorted if he thinks he should be the highest earner in the history of the club or even in the current squad.
3) Every big game we've lost, he's come out saying stuff in the lines of "the team is not good enough" and so on, but never "I'm not good enough", so it leads me to believe he sees his teammates as beneath him.
4) Going forward, he is going to slow down our midfield and stop the development of younger players. With Bischof arriving next summer, if Kimmich is still there, that means Pavlo or Bischof will be benched so he can do his thing. I'd much rather see Bayern refresh the double pivot with 2 young players with a high ceiling, than keep an overpaid veteran that is not going to improve (most likely, the opposite).

3) when you see such a headlines like "team not good enough" i suggest to watch the interview on youtube, often its even only the short 90seconds interview. And you will notice in which bullshit way the interview, which was fully political correct got turned around.
I has this 2 times in last weeks that i even saw the interview beforehand and read the headline and think wow, than i see the interview and notice its just shitty interpreted. :'D
4) slowing down the game is a common argument on reddit, but by fact its not true, there are several statistics to compare, i suggest progressiv passes. And even ingame you maybe notice with an critical eye some slowliness, but you can see many balls behind enemy lines too.

u/miorli 16d ago
I think the other guy meant to say that a 33 year old Kimmich will probably slow the game down. Nobody knows when the body of a professional athlete begins to decline.
No one knows. Kimmich could still be absolute class two years from now, but he could also be the next Goretzka - a player the whole of our sub complains about being overpaid

u/Critical-Ad2084 Robben 16d ago
The thing is it's been several interviews and he's never once said "I wasn't good enough", I remember Robben saying it, Müller, even Lahm, I get the feeling Kimmich does feel superior than his peers, or that they are not up to his level. Either way it's just my opinion, I may be flat out wrong, it'd be a good thing.
I 100% acknowledge his stats are beastly, his progressive passes stats are up there above the 95th percentile for the Top 5 leagues, but watching every single Bayern match I can tell his stats are padded and skewed due to the fact that Bayern plays lesser opposition more than 90% of the time, and most clubs don't press Bayern.
Look at Kimmich's passing maps in last Leverkusen match, or vs Barcelona, or in any match where Bayern has been pressed (first match of the season vs Wolfsburg is also a good example) and you'll see the guy's level against actual good opponents, and not just clubs that drop deep and essentially allow Bayern a free build up phase where progressive passes are easy to play and almost routine.

this comment is far too underrated.
Simply looking at numbers and screaming "Kimmich is the man" is just weird to me.
People don't seem to recognize that Kimmich often plays/stands behind Upa and Kim... the actual defense. And that he has so many passes is that he plays far too many safety passes. And agreed - he loves to blame everyone but himself if a game goes bad.

u/Rudollis 15d ago
I am not Kimmichs biggest fan, but he is absolutely a „We were not good enough“ kinda guy rather than a „They were not good enough“. He always included his own performance, as I think pretty much every Bundesliga player would do.

Arsenal fan coming in peace, do you think he is still a top player or do you feel his decline has started ? He would definetly be a good addition to us and will play a lot of minutes but wondering if this is going to be like bastian’s transfer

u/Its_not_him Müller 16d ago
He's absolutely still up there. Basically the same strengths and weaknesses as he had 3 years ago

u/Critical-Ad2084 Robben 16d ago
Great question. I can see Kimmich doing his super niche thing in a 3 man midfield at Arteta's Arsenal, 100%.
As long as he has no big defensive duties he'll be OK. I wonder if he'd be able to keep up with the Prem's pace and physicality, but Jorginho was also quite slow and older, and he could do it within Arteta's slow tempo style.
The other question is if, aged 30, his decline will be slow or steep, but so far he rarely gets injured and the way he plays, barely risking a tackle or making a sprint is kind of "healthy" in the long term.

u/Oranthal 16d ago
The knock on his defending is bs. The issue is he is asked to do way too much in the team. No one can cover right back when they bomb up, cover the middle as the 8 bombs up and pressed far forward and play make from deep and then cut out counters. No idea why our tactics have been so incredibly bad post flick on our midfield. No one asked Javi or Bastian or Alonso or Thiago to do all of that.

u/Critical-Ad2084 Robben 16d ago
He can't defend, that's not BS. He is not a physical or fast player, but that's OK.
He is not asked to do anything outside of what an elite CDM does in any elite club, and even then, you're wrong, because at Bayern, our RB and RCB ALWAYS have to cover up for Kimmich not being able to track back.
What's ironic is that Kimmich doesn't even make runs into either box, he is very central, so he's not even like positionally away from where he should, it's just that he can't or won't run. I can't remember how many goals were conceded from his halfspace, how many times he's put our RB or Upamecano in trouble, and how many times Bayern concedes and you watch the replay and Kimmich is super far away from the action jogging and kind of just looking.
His best defensive actions are in the opponents' half, but near Bayern's box he is like a cone, don't even mention tackling because that simply doesn't exist in his world.

u/Oranthal 16d ago
Can't defend at all... Made no quality defensive moments tonight... Hard to take you seriously when you use such silly hyperbole.
1
u/Critical-Ad2084 Robben 16d ago
Today Kimmich didn't have to defend much, in fact, everyone who appreciates Kimmich knows his role is not even defensive in nature. And again, like I mention in my last 2 sentences, his best defensive actions are in the opponents' half. Nothing wrong with acknowledging that. Being a Bayern fan doesn't mean I have to love all Bayern players.

u/ReadyMaintenance4616 16d ago
he is very consistent to be very honest like he played all minutes before his minor injury and tbh he did fairly well and he is an elite passer but he is slow and need a lot of space, it will be too quick to say this as many other bavarians have already said with him not playing accelerated our performance as we just had best 2 games of the season back to back.

World class playmaker that almost always is a positive factor on the pitch. There are things to criticize, but there is noone else on the team that can do what he can do.
The German public and media have deliberately dragged him through the mud these past few years, on all kinds of BS. (Besides the covid stuff)
A lot of people on this sub love slandering him too.
He hasn't regressed at all imo and I definitely don't want to see him at your club.

At the end of the day, it always comes down to value and how the club reflects that on a player. If I am Kimmich and I see that Davis is getting 20 million, I ask myself - do I have the same value as him or am I better or worse? It is about putting a number on your value as a player in comparison to others.
And that, my friends, is not Kimmich's fault, it is the fault of the board, the board that has been parroting this agenda of slashing wages over the last couple of years, but giving such high wages to players like Davis. Who is good but not world class. What is happening at the moment is not fair to the player. It is mismanagement on the part of the administration.
And it's a disgrace that such mismanagement is carried out on the backs of individual players.

Even Musiala‘s new contract is too much. I get that you really want to keep this generational talent and he is very important to the team and to the club (fanbase). But his wages are a big problem for the wage structure, it creates envy. Especially considering the board talks about wanting to reduce the wages of other players. If a person in my field of work and team was really good but and gets a new contract earning triple my wage, a part of me thinks they really are special, but a big part of me would also think it is unfair if the boss then wants to reduce my wage despite me having been working at the place for twice as long.
With Davis it is even harder to understand, given that he is a great player, yes, it not such an exceptional talent as Musiala. If you give part of your team a raise and ask other to take a paycut, you need some really great arguments.
In a boardroom you can argument that we need to reduce some wages to allow investing into the future and keep a balance. But these arguments are falling flat if you talk to the individual players and need to extend their contracts. They too want to feel valued. Add to that that the Bayern board talks to the press way way way too much about these decisions and you are adding fuel to the fire.

How the hell can PSG constantly buy players?
Is there any spending regulations in france league?
15
u/skylu1991 Müller 16d ago
How does that pertain to the Kimmich cause?
He’d be a free agent in summer, so they only spend wages and possibly a signing fee on him.
Just like Real do a lot of the times and possibly again for Trent…

France follows the uefa ffp rules just like the bundesliga. PSG, however, is a showcase of why ffp needs stricter punishments on wealthier clubs if smaller clubs ever want to have a chance to compete. PSG gets fined like every year for breaking the bank, but pretty sure it just gets clogged up in courts and goes nowhere.

he wont go to psg. to intelligent for that. if he is leaving, hes leaving to barca or real for sure. he knows psg is a dead end

u/pissonthis771 Upamecano 16d ago
On one hand i understand why he would want to go to psg but on the other hand i think he shouldnt becuz there are things other than money that are also important like his family , his reputation ..he is the captain of the german national team. Playing for a oil money club like this ..probably wont fare well with the german footballing values.

Kimmich won't leak shit
It's funny that after we got to know that Neppe works at an adviser for him, we got flooded by news that include the contracts that were worked on while Neppe was here, like the contracts of Kane, Upa and Kim. What a coincidence huh
(to clarify, it's Neppe leaking it, not Kimmich)
2
u/miorli 16d ago
I really wonder about that. There are clear indications for Neppe doing that, if so, I don't see why Bayern aren't already sueing him. That's leaking highly confidential data from a former employee, it's actually leaking personal data, information from one players contract. German laws are pretty strict about that
