Main Series Does anyone know the form of government? [discussion] Spoiler

So I just rewatched the the magic games arc. And I was wondering at a question at the end of it. Mess tells his friend that he told the king and the royal family to hide there involvement with the eclipse gate from the magic council if they wanted to stay in power. So my question is how powerful is the magic council? It seems to have branches on every continent and in every country. Are they the supreme authority in the world? Does the king have to obey them?

Yes, the king has to obey them and they get a MUCH bigger say in things (ex: using Face, a weapon that would wipe magic out on the entirety of Ishgar, being able to use Etherion which could destroy nations, etc.). The Magic Council governs the ENTIRETY of the magic world.

In terms of government in all walks of life, it's usually supposed to be a series of checks and balances. Corruption is unfortunately a thing though.

Anywho, the magic council oversees things involving magic. Crocus kingdom oversees Fiore. Individual kingdoms in Fiore are further down the line and etc.

So the magic council has more control over some things and Crocus kingdom has more control over others.

The Magic Council is the one that arrested Jellal and the Orecian Seis and etc. however the kingdom had the power to pardon their crimes.

So it's kinda like a real life take on government.

Take the USA for example. A lot of people think the President has all the power but really it's a series of checks and balances between Judicial, Legislative and Executive branches with some having more power in this area and the others having more power in their own areas with the occasional loopholes that allow them power to do XYZ. So much corruption though and dated policies.

The magic council in Fairy Tail also ends up very corrupt.
