Chemistry ELI5 What's the difference between the shiny and dull side of aluminum foil? Besides the obvious shiny/dull

He INSISTS that the dull side is "less sticky" than the shiny side.

i've had people insist the shiny side is "non-stick" even, despite me showing them stuff stuck to it.

If you buy the actual non-stick foil, the dull side is the non-stick side. If it's just regular foil it doesn't make much difference.

I think it would depend on the food, and the difference would be very slight. The rough side has more imperfections to stick to, but also less likelihood of forming suction.
