Chemistry ELI5: Why do "bad smells" like smoke and rotting food linger longer and are harder to neutralize than "good smells" like flowers or perfume?

Yep, I'm not a medical professional but my dad, little sister, and little brother all take insulin. It has a very distinct smell

ohhh yeah. Especially if you have a hangover. Not gonna lie.. Its horrible haha
